Need a picture of how stock intercooler seals to deck lid.

I don't have a stock deck lid handy that includes the stock intercooler block-off plate. If any of you has a bone stock lid and can take a picture and some measurements I would really appreciate the info.

				Thanks!

I need to know where the intercooler gasket hits that plate. I think I can see the rub marks in your photo. Can you photoshop the area where they meet? I don't think I will need any dimensions as I have a stock intercooler with gasket. Is that area flat? I can't remember. Thanks again!

I'm no photoshopper but here is where the gasket hits. It is flat all of the way around even though it appears beveled on the bottom edge. The bottom edge does angle toward the front of the car (downward toward the bottom of the pic) as seen in the picture though.

Beautiful! I think I have what I need. In case you are wondering I am adding a gasket to my aftermarket intercooler that will seal properly using the factory block off plate. That bottom part is curved horizontally but I couldn't remember if it was flat or if that large factory rubber gasket meshed at any odd angles.

			Many thanks!

Yes I think I am finished with it now and all that is left is to find the appropriate gasket. Most aftermarket intercoolers that I see don't seal to the deck lid. The intercooler won't work if air isn't forced to go through it; at that point I'd bet the stock intercooler is more efficient than the larger aftermarket coolers!

I ordered a temperature data recording system yesterday and am very excited to play with this and see if the difference shrouded vs unshrouded is as huge as I think it is. I'll post a picture of what I have now and then start a thread on what I find once the data recorder is in place.

I'd be interested in seeing the measured difference between sealed and not sealed if you have time during your data logging

I can take some pix this weekend. I think the design is complete. Been agonizing over how tall the IC should be as fitment cannot be compromized. This thing must be 100% bolt on using the same tools as the stocker which means the only space we can go is up. I want to use the stock shroud as well because it is designed to work properly with everything else under the hood.

After seeing Mark's picture - I went out to the garage and was tempted at taking a picture of my car's shroud - but, since the wear pattern was exactly the same, I didn't bother; however, I would add the obvious point that Mark's car apparently doesn't have the rear wiper. (Just something you may wish to consider.)

Anyway, Brian, can't wait to see another example of your handiwork!

I just design stuff, the craftmanship comes from the experts hired to build them.

Here is picture of what will likely be the final product. You can see I have added every conceivable accessory port to accommodate all years of CIS equipment as well as additional sending units and vac/boost ports. This intercooler also has ports to support the 965 BOV conversion which I switched to just to test it out. I would like to make it taller but do not want that to create a problem with the stock shroud.
