Gasohol on K-Jet 930?
Hi,
I own a 86, 930 Euro, K27, ported/polished In Thailand, Shell just launched the new V power gasohol 95 which claimed to have more octane than the normal 95 gasohol. They also hand out the brochure list of car marks that can use the new gas but not any turbo cars listed. Do you guys in the US run gasohol on your K-Jet 930? My 85 Mercedez runs with better torque when use gasohol. But I was told by many guys here not to do it on the 930, why can't I use it? Many thanks for the input. Burint

The Thai gasohol 95 (E10) contains 10% ethanol.

Sometimes problems can happen with such issues as Vapor lock, however most modern vehicles ( ie fuel injected era 93' + ) are less problematic. I don't know the state of your present tune, you'll need to make some adjustments to the given parameters. Most modern blends of petrol have a percentage of ethanol. Once you start to exceed 15% issues could happen. Parameters are everything. I have delt with fuels in Japan, Malaysia, Korea, California, but not specifically Thai land.

Alcohol w/CIS does not sounds like a smart mix.

All the gas stations I've seen here in Florida say up to or at least 10% ethanol is mixed into the gas right on the side of the pump.
It hasn't melted or swelled the orings or diaphrams in my CIS that i know of... yet. |

I've run E10 for 10 years and about 20K miles - my fuel system seems fine and I just had my CIS completely apart. It really helps with detonation. Stoich is 14.13 so I think that leans things out a touch. Mileage takes a little hit, about 3-4% by my calculation - not very scientific though.

Exactly most pumpside fuel has about 10% ethonol depends on the blend, time of year. I would be concerned more so about methanol. I have seen more issues in that fuel arena then eth. You should often check your oil and change it a bit sooner. good luck!
