Creative Help Needed

Need some help / advice......

I am wanting to install some newly aquired 935 miles on the Pumpkin (82 930). Not sure I want to fill and repaint the doors where the flag mirrors were mounted, because I might want to go back someday.

Looking for creative ideas of how to cover the holes, etc that would look good and be semi reversible.

The Pumpkin is mostly a track car so a "show" quality idea is not necessary.

Thanks

Bob

Maybe a thicker American flag sticker. Or another flag if you are from another country.

Hi! This doesn't help you, but how are these mirrors mounted? I have a set ready to fit my car but there's no mounting hardware included. a picture how it's fastened would be super.....

Either that or a pair of those euro style orange door reflectors or even a piece of black tape if it is a track car.

No real need to weld them shut, IMO.

the mirrors are mounted using double sided body tape. just be sure both the mirror and the door frame are very clean before appying the tape, i used denatured alcohol as a cleaning agent

Don't cover those. Those are ultra rare "speed holes"...

someone should make a badge or crest that bolts into place using those existing holes..

A decal on magnetic material would be thicker and less likely to punch holes through it.

I'm thinking fab a piece of aluminum, finish, paint to color and pop rivet to the small holes or 2x side aircraft tape. Would look like a small fuel/oil filler door

Bob, get some body plugs that fit in the holes and paint them to match or you could fill with JB weld and sand and paint for a more finished look that would be totally reversible with the tap of a hammer.

Here is a link to another mirror thread that has a good picture of finishing off the flag mirro holes.

Flag mirrors gone - welcome Vitaloni Sebring Mach 1 Mirror

I emailed the fellow that posted this picture and he took a piece of metal, curved it to fit the door and filed it to match the flag mirror base and used the original rubber gasket.

John: (and everyone)

Thanks for all the ideas. In the end I made some "covers" out of the material used for the rear stone guards, cut to size of the flag gaskets. As the black goes OK with the rest of the color scheme it looks OK.

But this latest suggestion is the permenant one!. I hve just the guy here in KC to make the metal sheets and the gaskets from my flag mirrors are in great shape. That's where I will end up. I'll post a pic when complete.

Regards

B
