boost tap

Hey I just got a boost gauge from north hollywood speedometer to replace my clock in my 77 911s. It's mechanical so I'll need to run a hose or tap into the brake booster line. Can I tap into the line to the brake booster and have vac/boost feed for my new gauge? Thanks

I had the same one. You need about 2 feet of hose. You will add a T fitting to tap in at your brake booster line (extremely tight in there) and then you are good to go. 30 minute job once you have your clock and line through the firewall.

I've searched this topic. It appears that taping into the brake booster can be problematic with accuracy. I don't know why bit would guess that the size of line to the brake booster and possibly old rubber to be the cause. I'm just going to run a line to the intake manifold. Harder, but more safe.

Mine is run back through the tunnel to the BOV housing. I know it is commonly done but I am really uncomfortable cutting the brake booster line. If there is anything I don't want to worry about that's gotta be it.

I stopped the when I saw that the line was way larger than I thought it would be. I expected that I could get a little "T" and splice it. Not so, so I started poking around pelican and found that it's sometimes not accurate. And the tap into the brake booster seems a little poky anyway. It sucks that I'll have to run the line all the way back, but it'll be worth it.

If you look under the front tunnel carpet where the tunnel meets the firewall there is an opening, there's one at the shifter, and one under the coupling cover where the rear of the tunnel meets the rear floor bulkhead. Fish a wire from back to front, tape some vacuum hose to your wire and pull the wire with the hose back through the tunnel. Do not cut holes in the tunnel, the fuel lines are in there !!!!.

Tie into the Boost Gage and then T the other end into the boost line that goes to the bottom port of the wastegate. You'll need two fittings (1) npt to hose barb for fitting on the back of the boost gage and a plastic barb T hose will work fine at the wastegate line.
