muffler choices for 930

So I'm pretty set on going with RarelyL8 exhaust.

I'm undecided between the "street" sound level and the "hooligan".

Can I get some reviews from those who have experienced either?

I will choose to go with the dual outlet.

Thanks,

John

I ran a ZORK for almost 2 years before selling the car. The sound was very intoxicating and I found myself always on the gas so that I could hear that sound....

Either choice is a great choice.

I have the street muffler set up with his headers and I love the sound. I think it is perfect. When I feel like a hooligan, which is quite often, I just slap the ZORK on and run around town. So I would recommend getting both. It takes 10 min to swap them out.

No question for me... Zork is the only option. The turbo quiets the exhaust noise down quite a bit. At idle its a little obnoxious... but at cruise, the sound is Heavenly!!

I think mine is the street option (regular straight through). I like the sound a lot. It is louder than stock, but not droning and not too loud. With windows up it is not noticeable inside. At low speeds in parking garages I can hear the turbo whistling through the tailpipe while driving.

It is lighter than stock by a significant amount, adjustable outlet angle, etc.

My wife thinks it is a tad loud, but tolerable.

I am 49 years old, drive to the office with it each day when I can, so that may give you an idea of where I am at in terms of a "user demographic".

It is very difficult to convey sound level and quality through the internet. The YouTube videos don't come close to the actual sound level most of the time.
At idle - On a scale from 1-10 with 1 being stock and 10 being a Harley:
> Stock = 1
> Street Muffler = 3
> Hooligan = 5
> Zork = 9
Once you get going most of the sound goes away behind you. The biggest difference in the Hooligan vs Street is turbine whine and burbles on decel. These sounds are mostly silent in the street muffler. All follow the gas peddle; the harder you push the louder they get.
All 3 of these sound options are available with each muffler configuration. The tailpipes and muffler bodies are mix and match. You create your own configuration and sound level. A bypass pipe is available that replaces the muffler body so you can have a zork any time.
As always if you order one of my mufflers from our host and find you do not like the sound level you can trade in the muffler body for another type.

Any trick to painting the exhaust tip. I'm looking for the 'flat black' look on a GT3 tip. Rarly's, of course...

Just painting the last 6-inches, or so...

Ideas?

it seems that just about anything can be powder coated, even plastic.

Yes, I know ceramic coating is good for high heat... I just wonder if the exhaust tip will be "that" hot? I know the stock exhaust tips were painted black... doubt they were ceramic coated.

I have a poweder coater. Just need to look up a 'ceramic coater...'

Wouldn't that depend on what is burning?

I would think that you would need a special plastic that wont turn to mush if you are using a "oven bake" powder coat. We use powder coating for many applications out here in phoenix on custom ironwork that we build. but have never been able to powdercoat plastic. One problem that I have seen with powder coating is that it will chip. I had a Champion Boat and they had powder coated the trailer from the factory, that trailer looked like it was 30 years old and had been badly abused. In reality it had maybe 5K miles on it and was garaged all of its life. We have pretty good luck on the security doors we do and other custom iron, but when it starts to rust it flakes off like crazy. I would think the powder coat can take a ton of heat(exhaust type heat)

Ceramic doesn't require high heat use. It can handle it though. And it's easier to do than powder coating.

It does require oven curing though. On exhaust headers, it will self cure with use but probably not a tip after the muffler I'm guessing.

I ran one of Brian's hooligan muffler's with waste gate pipe and the sound was great. Not too loud around town or at highway cruise.I was very happy but wanted something a little louder but not quite zork loud so Brian made me a pipe that just replaced the muffler body with a straight pipe. Now it's just right, I don't hear the people's radios at a stop light anymore and scare's old lady's a mile away at wide open throttle. Cruising around town as long as you keep the rev's down the cop's don't seem to notice much. One of the good thing's about his product's is modular design , you want something call him up and he will make it asap, direct bolt on and it always fit's.I hope this helps.....Ben

I have one of Brians dual out mufflers. To tell you the truth I don't know if it is the street or Hooligan version. It sounds perfect though.
