Patrick MS Pressure Plate/Clutch removal
Hi all,
Its been a year since I've separated the motor and transmission, I am a bit foggy on two details.... 1. What are these bolt heads? Of the 9 bolts holding the pressure plate on, the middle bolt in each group of 3 has a different head. I installed this, but I cant seem to find the proper torx or whatever it is. Any help? ![]() ![]() 2. I also recall there were 2 or 3 pins in the pressure plate that I pulled adter installing. I found 2 of them, but I dont recall where/how they are inserted. Any help, with pics maybe? ![]() Thanks!

Those bolt heads look like XZN or triple-square drive. On my Patrick MS install, all the pressure plate bolt heads were the same. I think the pins are used to retain alignment of the pieces because Patrick MS balances the pieces as a unit. You need to reassemble it the same way it came apart.
If you installed it a year ago, why are you taking it apart; if I may ask? Good Luck, Mark

Cylinder #5 base gasket was either oversized or wrinkled, and its leaking like crazy. Need to pull that bank and replace that gasket.

Hi John, those bolts are:
Porsche PN: 999 510 012 02 (M8x50) They are not the original equipment bolts but do work well. They have a good shoulder and lower profile Torx head. I also see no spring washers used. I'd recommend renewing all your bolts and adding the 9 qty., N 012 241 8 (Spring washers) The flywheels should already be pre balanced after machining. Sachs also balances their clutches. You should see holes drilled around the perimeters on the flywheel and clutch covers, But when you put them together and actuate the floating pressure plate of the clutch, balance would be effected anyways. Thats a nice lightweight setup there!

Thanks Brian.
That bolt head is definately not torx though...its bigger than T45 but smaller than T50. And 12 points instead of 6. I must have had the tool around but I cant for the life of me find it. Regarding the washers...I think this is the "embarassed" smiley... ![]() Dont know how I missed that, must have been a Friday afternoon...

Good deal, yep sorry, should have said 12 point. Maybe now you have an excuse to finish off your tool set! The original bolts would be regular alan head, 900 067 090 02 (8x 42mm)...they cost slightly more so thats likely why maybe the other bolts were provided?
The washers I see lots of people don't use them and have no issues so don't feel bad! Cheers
