Removing Adhesive Script

The original owner put a "RUF" script on the deck lid of my '86 930 replacing the original "turbo" script. Since it is not a real RUF, I wanted to remove the script and put the original turbo back on. It appears to be attached with adhesive backing and there do not appear to be any posts. What can I use to loosen the adhesive without damaging the paint?

use dental floss to "separate" the emblem front the tail; hopefully the adhese will come off with the emblem leaving very little still there, then clean, use 3M solvet... clean , polish,...
Be sure there is no pin through like the OEM turbo emblem.

Ha! I was going to say fishing line gently used bank and forth, 3m adhesive remover and wax. So we we're on the same page. Good luck!

Heat it with a blow dryer first and it will go much easier. May not even need the fishing / floss.

What's up Bill? Hope all is well..., what about another drive together?

acetone

I have had luck using acetone on just about anything sticky, but never on car paint. I would suggest trying an area with a small amount of acetone where it could be tested.

Hot sun for a few hours..floss to remove script..WD40 to remove adhesive..wax. Should take no more than 30 min.

I used the floss and removed the sticky adhesive with the Nu Finnish polish. It looks great. Now I am waiting for the Turbo Script to show up in the mail and I will mount it when I get back from playing navy. (reserves)

Thanks for all of the great advice!!:)
