fuel filter replacement procedure

Did a search, didn't find anything.

Any secret handshakes to the fuel filter replacement? Or just unbolt the sucker and go?

On my Audi's I usually pull the FP relay and crank it to run the system dry - any similar thought here?

Just checking, before I splash fuel all over.

Thanks.

mostly unbolt and go, put an old towel down underneath to soak up any fuel and use a couple wrenches one on the filter one on the lines, work them against each other. careful not to twist the lines

Thanks Sly!

All set here, Jacob gave me some helpful pointers earlier.

Had only looked in there and seen the cramped work area, figured there were some helpful hints to smooth the process - which Jacob provided. Sweet.

Tx again.

You not sharing the secrets? Were your boy's here. I did this six year's ago and it's on the menu again this weekend. I'll probably take the IC off again just to gain a little more room but that's about all the help I can give you other just get in there and do it!!

intercooler has to come off, good luck getting in there with it on,...

just grab and go, make sure there are some towels back there...there is some gas that comes out

might want to check your accumulator while your in there, there is a thread on here somewhere that tells you how to check it

Hey Ben!

Nothing dramatic, mostly just assurance that it's more accessible than it appears and it is somewhat maneuverable to get the bottom line off. Sure looks cramped.

Accumulator? Had to go and rub that in, didja?

Ah, mine's been shot since I got the car. I really gotta get around to that this year, it's incessantly annoying to say the least. Pricey sumbiatch tho. Hear there's some other marques that use the same piece but for less $, IIRC I read something here on that. Time for a search...

thanks!

yes, it's part of the CIS pressure testing in general - once your gauges are hooked up, when you shut the pumps off you check how much pressure bleeds down over a set time interval

try searching CIS pressure testing

Why mess with your accumulator? If your car starts easily when the engine is hot then your accumulator is good. Testing with CIS gauges is simply a method to confirm a bad accumulator when the symptoms of a bad accumulator arrive.

Mine is hard to start when hot, Takes approx. 5 minutes to get over the low idle. Then its good.

Benny:

All of the CIS pressure checks are in the service manuals. I posted the link above but then deleted it since Pelican may not like that link. PM me and I'll send you the link or just Google "911 service manuals" and download them.

The accumulator should hold system pressure of at least 1.7 bar for 10 minutes and at least 1.5 bar for 20 minutes. See page 25-15 of the 930 service manual for this

You should acquire a CIS fuel pressure checking guage/hose set for this.
