Crap... you want the oil tank one. Let me see if I have a stock picture of one.
I am sorry.. I guess I'm just bumping your thread. I do not have a good picture of the stock sump tank or it's routing. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Regards, Bryan

Cole, I have access to mine.. what exactly do you need. Right where the line screws into the tank? do you need the tread size of the tank, or what are you needing?

You want to see how it connects to the oil tank? If that's correct I'll try to get under and shoot some pics this weekend. Let me know if that's what you need.

Not quite on-topic, but while I was looking for oil tank pics I came across this pic as well.
I fitted an 80 micron in-line filter in the line you are working with to capture any junk (usually coked oil particles) before they get dumped in the oil tank. The low pressure gauge just indicates if the filter is getting clogged. Good insurance. ![]()

Cole, the scavenge return fitting on the oil tank has a tube on the inside which extends all the way to the top of the tank - above the oil level inside the tank. This is was done because the level in the tank is higher than the turbo, and when your motor is shut down oil will gradually migrate back through the scavenge pump, fill the reservoir under the turbo, then eventually fill the turbo and seep past the compressor and turbine ring seals.
On a factory 930 tank like Bill's you see two fittings. The scavenge return fitting has the long tube on the inside, and the other fitting (normally capped off) has a short length of tube in the inside, maybe 2-3" long. I've no idea what it may have been intended for. |

One other option
Cole,
If you've got some modified oil tank w/o a fitting (ex: non-Turbo tank) and don't want to add a fitting, another simple option is to return oil back to the crankcase. Why not? The 993TT did, pumping hot post-turbo oil right back into the case below and to the left of the crankshaft. FWIW, I've returned oil to the crankcase breather cover and not had a problem. (Cover = oval piece bolted to top of case with 1" fitting on right side for the stainless breather tube). Most case covers with a few ports, and if one is unused then simply thread in the appropriate adapter. Ex: 993 conversion had an M14 port unused, just installed an M14/-6AN adapter, then a -6AN line up form the pump. Short & simple. And if your cover doesn't have an available port, add one -- it's thick enough to either TIG on an aluminum bung, or, drill & tap (straight thread or NPT). We had a car in the shop not long ago that had an AN bung welded to a lower valve cover and the oil returned there, next to a lower rocker and right down the oil return tube. Worked fine. Just another way to get it done.
