Once upon a time... MFI ST Racecar
Hi folks,
As there are a lot of real Porsche maniacs on this board, I hope that the following story will be appreciated. Once upon a time there were two Italian gentlemen drivers, named Carlo and Bruno Rebai, who were pretty active in the local Porsche community and BIG RIVALS. Needless to say, they relied on two different shops for the preparation of the respective toys. At a certain point, Carlo had a kind of RSR bodied car with an eye-catching tail and a sort of twin turbo version of the IMSA 962 engine. ![]() ![]() In order to contrast his brother, Bruno commissioned an adequate answer to the Italian engine wizard, Gabriele Gottifredi (the fellow that made the 3-valve head - Pelican Parts Technical BBS - Powered by vBulletin neat-post-day-porsche-911-3-valve-engine.html) and also this Group C2 car - Race Cars Porsche 956 Powered | Group C 2 Starting point was a 3.0 turbo engine, which got 962 IMSA heads, 962 pistons with the additional oil cooling gallery in the ring area, the long piston squirters, centre lubed cams and a single KKK turbo mounted on a 934 header. Last but not least, he adapted a modified 956 induction/injection set-up, with 935 vent valves on the plenums. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() An air/air onboard-IC was installed. To keep the IAT pretty low, a sort of IC housing was fed with fresh air by three air scoops, one on the roof and two on the rear qtrs. ![]() ![]() Later on, the roof scoop was replaced by a more subtle solution. The gearbox tunnel was raised and an airduct was integrated, which routed the cooling air from the front to the IC. ![]() ![]()

At the beginning, the car was red and during its life, it changed the look several times and diverse wing solutions were tested.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In occasion of the first shakedown at the Monza circuit, the two Rebai cars had a “coincidental shootout” and the two drivers pushed each other to increasingly faster laps. Unfortunately the flywheel of the twin turbo rival flew apart, literally carved the gearbox and the engine dropped southward… A part of that old material was bought by an Italian collector, where I took the pics of several components of the old Gottifredi engine. Please excuse the long story. I hope you liked it. G |

Hi guys,
thank you for the kind comments. It's nice to see that you also like this old hardcore stuff. Willtell, I don't know what will happen to the parts. As far as I know, the engine is still disassembled. The owner has a pretty nice collection of cars, from two 993GT2 EVO or a 934 clone up to several home-brewed versions, such as the above described. The next time I get there, I will take some more pics. From time to time, I stumble across some interesting project. I have some pics of a 3.6 (964 based) MFI-Twinturbo engine from Germany. I'm in contact with the builder - an oldschool guy - and I will post the details, soon. Can somebody tell me how I can change the title of my thread? I think it is a bit misleading, as ST is not the old NA race model, but SingleTurbo. Take care G |

That is alright. You would need to ask a moderator to change the title, but now that you have explained it I think we can just leave it.
