Any tips for starting new build.

Due to a electrical glitch, I severely flooded my new build today. By the time I figured out there was no spark, it was past the point of starting, but managed to get a small puff out of her. I dropped the headers to drain the gas, but will wait till tomorrow to try again. Any tips, or words of wisdom on what to do/not to. Most of the parts are upgraded, and need to be dialed in once she's running. Modified cis fuel system/euro lines & injectors, so it's pumping lots of fuel. Philip

change the oil it's full of gas also if it was flooded that bad.

I recommend you not flood it. ;-)

Is this a newly rebuilt motor, or just a new-to-you car?

both newly rebuilt engine, and new engine to car. It floods within a couple of seconds of turning it over. Checked all the usual, pulled plugs and it doesn't seen to wet, but have gas coming from expansion joint in header. Have spark, getting a little backfire/pop. Air meter plate is good ! Almost positive its not out 180*.

I would take all the plugs out and spin it good w the starter to empty the cylinders. Sounds like you are indeed 180 out, reinstall the distributer and it should fire right up.

Flipped 180*

So I turned the engine 180* cause it just wasn't starting the way it was. If #1 cylinder is TDC would # 6exhaust valve be open? I took off the headers and can see the valves. Philip
