For cole930 project 934

Hi Cole.

I've not thrown my hat into the ring before but I'd like to say that I'm in awe of your project and it's complexities and your determination to see it through even in the face of such adversity. Your upbeat attitude to lifes woes throughout your posts is inspirational and honestly cheer me up. Long may it continue.

I've been dipping in and out of the discussions on your project for a while now and on looking through my cupboards (I have an erratic file system) I have dug out an old 1976 934 Factory parts manual. It has every part number for the 934 in it, including which parts are stock and available over the counter and which parts were specific. It's strange how you collect things over the years. Anyway, I was looking through it and this picture could point to there being a cone on the metering plate although it's a basic drawing.

Cole, if I can help you in any way with your astonishing project just let me know.

Keep up the excellent work.

Robert.

I wanted to ad this to the end of the 'latest hairbrained scheme' thread but couldn't figure out how to add the picture. Sorry.

Thats interesting...
Could you please scan and post the page with a list of what the parts with numbers next to them are?

#4 is hooked up to the fuel heads control pressure line and looks like it's a control pressure regulator even though it may be called something else and may not actually be located where this diagram has it.

#2 is connected to it and looks like it could be a vacuum switch for boost enrichment.

#7 - #10 don't look like anything on a 930 either.

Some stuff is missing and probably on another diagram.

Regarding the drawing and comparing it to the pictures in Coles thread, it does seem that the #4 item is indeed where it is in the drawing.

It reminds of a similar thing I think I have seen on the 964T, confirm please, and also on the yellow bird, efi I know. On the yellow bird I think it is a dampener or something like that.

Just wild a-- guess, could this dampener try to mitigate some of the pulsation in the intake that CIS metering plate doesnt like.

7-10 isn't that the BOV/bypass valve?

Jesper, I think you're right and #2 looks like the pressure sensing or switching unit mounted to the left side of the throttle body in Cole's pic.

Robert:

I'm glad you've started throwing your hat in the ring and please do it
often !!!!

Beautiful car you have there and it's even the correct color.

Hang onto that manual as they are very rare and very valuable. Many
die hard 934 fans have been lusting after one for years. I used to say I'd
give my left nut to have one, unfortunately the only nut I still have is the
right one.

I wanted to thank you for the kind praise although I'm afraid it may
be much misspent. I'm just like a hundred other guys here that have a
passionate adulterous affair with these old girls. To me this truly is a
labor of love and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Great of you to post the CIS layout, I've already saved it, and it will
be of great value to me. In looking at it I believe the circle in the center
of the metering plate is actually representative of the over sized flat
washer used to stabilize the metering plate.

I also think the control device seen attached to the system is actually
a Control Pressure Dampener that was used to dampen pressure spikes
caused by quick throttle lift while on high boost. They had a problem with
pressure spikes rupturing the WUR diaphragms and added the dampener
to eliminate the issue. I've added a couple pics of factory 934's that have
the dampener attached to the CIS.

Hope to see you on here alot, you'll enjoy these clowns, they even kept me
laughing even when I was pukeing.

THANKS !!!!!!

Cole
