Super Charger ID required
Well, it match what is in the 3.2 SoK Installation Instructions.
My question is, having come across another post mentioning that there was 3 different Super Charger kits for the 3.2l, 2 in the 300's HP range and one in the 400's HP range and one of them needing different pistons so which one is it? Also, the SC model (3.0l) had also a version with an Auto Rotor. Would the Super Charger be the same size for both of them but using different drive gear? The dimension of the SC is 5" x 7.75" x 10.25" and the casing is engrave with: 3150 3113 Thanks The Injectors are Bosch 280 150 802 rated at ~56 hp ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It's a little work, but measure your drive pulley on the blower to the crank pulley. Find that ratio.
Then multiply that to determine rotor speed. Go the blowers website and see what boost level the blower puts out on your displacement engine. It'll be a ballpark, not definitive until you install and get an accurate reading. |

That looks like the Whipple version which should be good for 400 plus hp. The Paxton was the smaller unit @ just over 300 hp.

From Google search and posting here, it lookalike an Opton Autorotor super charger. Maybe the 417 model.

Hi,
I got your PM, I'll try and help here... The documentation on Autorotors has always been a challenge. The external dimensions on the 417, 420 and possibly others are the same so that's no help. The intake and general dimensions of what you have there look similar but not identical to the 417 I had and the 420 I have now. The numbers after the "4" refer to the numbers of litres of air moved per revolution. I don't know what to make of your engraved figures. I get north of 450hp at the wheels with a 420 running a 60mm pulley off a 120mm crank pulley for an effective max sharger rpm of 13000 at an engine rev limit of 6500 at 12psi boost. That's with a lot of other mods so YMMV. There is a Miata tuning shop out there that uses the same opcons, their website has some info. There is one opcon page out there two with some graphs but not much else. I'll look. I'm abroad right now with no access to my hard drive but if you search my name you can find some pics of my unit. I hope that helps, I'll look for more...

Pic without Intercooler installed.
![]() ![]() ![]() My pressure side manifold is slightly different but I'd bet that's just a "generation" issue. The case castings and other visual marks lead me to agree its an Opcon.

Thanks John,
I've been in contact with someone that use to work at SOK. They were getting their Rotor SC from Whimpple. I send the an e-mail. Someone has suggested that it is a SRM Autorotor SR3 1.5L Opcon was a sister company of SRM and Whipple carry on when Opcon & SRM split up. Maybe someone who did not get their kit second (third) hands like me may know exactly what came in the kit. Cheers JJ

SOK only offered two kits, the Paxton and the Whipple, for both the 3.0 and the 3.2. Towards the end of their run, they also offered the Whipple for the 3.6 964 motor which required the compression to be lowered. I believe they shaved the pistons for this and all installations were done by them. Paxton was rated @ 330 hp and the Whipple @ 425. There's an entire chapter dedicated to this in Bruce Andersons Porsche performance handbook BTW. I had one of the their Paxton kits a few years back until I went turbo.

OK, I'm getting some info back.
I talked to someone that work at SOK. Very helpful, confirmed that I have everything (engine pulley & ECU Chip not showing). They procured their SC from Whimpple. Whimpple directed me to Kenne Bell. On BK site, the KB/Autorotor diagram match my SC. It also mention where the model # is stamp. I google "Suppercharger 3150 3113" (#'s stamp on mine) and got a for add on VWVortex for an Autorotor 3150 1.5 Liter for sale. Earlier this morning Jon from Jon Bond Performance, Supercharger Parts & Rebuilding Services id it as a SRM Autorotor SR3 1.5 Liter. If you read the story of the Twin Rotor SC on Whipple Industries Obcon, Autorotor sister company was SMR and at some point they split... I'll be reading Bruce book tonight.

I had this unit on my 3.0 SC. It an Opcon Autorotor, SR3 3150, 1500cc puts out about 5 lbs of boost. Equivalent to about 10 pounds on a Turbo. Over 300hp. It is a Knoxville kit. although knoxville doesn't make them any more Mike at Knoxville is very helpful, so is Embree SuperCharger, they are very helpful and have a few versions of the 1700cc blowers. Otherwise you have to go to PSE. They have the remaining units bought from Opcon in Sweden and they have jacked the price considerably.

As for PSE, I call them this morning with the intention to order one for $1850 as per the web page; Opcon-Autorotor SR3 3150 New - PSE Superchargers - Your source for remanufactured original equipment superchargers Well that was the old price which is now $2150 without the snout drive, which require yours to be sent to them for rebuild ($125) in order to get a warranty for the SC. I'll have mine rebuild for ~$800.

I just sold my whole kit with the snout for $800, great deal. I wish they were still in business as well, Dave and Paul are really wise and helpful. BTW, I'm from Ste Agathe des Monts, QUE. just up the road from you.

rebuild supercharger
Another resource is Dale Embree, at Embree Superchargers, he's great, knows his stuff and rebuilds older units and still has some of his own.
