Guide Fork Plate - R&R
I have a small weep from the guide fork plate on the gearbox. I have a new gasket and a jug of Swepco, but two small questions.
1. Would a thin layer of gasket sealant be appropriate here, or not? 2. If I remove the plate with the gear selector in neutral and refrain from poking around in the gearbox, will the plate go back on correctly, in the sense that all four gears and reverse will be selectable when I have buttoned it up? Thank you. |
The plate is easy to R&R. I resealed mine over the winter due to a leak. I don't recall if I put the gear lever in neutral or not, but I definitely didn't mess with the lever while the plat was removed...I couldn't, as I was underneath the car the whole time. I used a rational amount of gasket goo (hylomar) as a sealant. No drips, no problems.
