gavin,
I did look at your datalog on the MS2 forum. Every time the engine misses (RPM sudden drop) the commanded injector pulsewidth does not change, meaning that MS is still injecting when the engine stumbles. That leads me to believe that your ignition system is having a hiccup at that point. It does it while the engine is decelerating as well, but you do not feel that. Looking at "status 1", it is "8 status" which is RPM Synced until the first big miss, then it jumps to "9" which indicates the CPU needs a burn (1 status, added to 8 status = 9). I have no idea why that happened. Injector duty cycle is well over 100% in the 4000+RPM range when on boost, so that will get worse when getting to redline. Definitely will need larger injectors. |
You can get the EDIS6 coil pack on ebay for $25
I used the Siemens/deka fuel injectors and had good luck with them. I originally used 60lb, and then upgraded to 80lb. There are around $250 on ebay. Should be the same as buick Grand national, and some other mid 80s V8s Quote:

Thanks guys.
A local Porsche specialist (JMG in the UK) will be having a look at the car soon. I will be taking in all the parts to go on and with there help hopefully getting it all sorted. They stock Siemens injectors and said they should have what I need. I have ordered the GoingSuperFast kit and the EDIS6 kit from TriggerWheels and together it looks like all I need to do the ignition control (apart from spark leads which TriggerWheels also do). The plan is to get the ignition control up and working first. Then once thats working well move onto the Carrera intake, TPS and Boost Solenoid. |
If you are already looking for some premade spark leads, you can just use ones from a mid 80s ford crown Victoria. They wor great
|
EDIS6 parts have all arrived, just waiting for the GSF parts now.
Trigger-Wheels also do some boot end for the HT leads that allow me to convert my current leads to work with EDIS. Got a photo of the new intercooler installed (sorry, poor quality photo's). Car now seems to want to over boost, guess its a result of the better flowing IC. Hopefully the boost solenoid will get this under control when installed. You can really feel the difference in the surface temp of the IC as you move your hand fronm inlet to outlet side. Blue connector is temporary for now and wires are all a mess from previous exploits in fault finding. All to be sorted soon. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1486213550.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1486213550.JPG |
Where did you get your intercooler?

IC was custom made by Pro Alloy in the UK
Pro Alloy Motorsport - The UK's Number One for Alloy Racing Tanks Just gave them the measurements and a few example images. |
I have decided to fit the Carrera intake before the EDIS etc.
So I have ordered the Carrera Intake Manifold Adapter Set from TurboKraft : https://parts.turbokraft.com/collections/911/products/carrera-intake-manifold-adapter-set I will just need to mod the bottom of the spacer's out from 32mm to 39mm for my cylinders. Hopefully I can use the SC throttle linkage/arm and bend it to shape for the 3.2 throttle body as others have done. |
Just thinking about the fuel lines to the fuel rails.
The current setup has the fuel going in the end of one fuel rail, out of the other end and then into the second fuel rail, to the FPR and the then return to the tank. Would splitting the fuel supply between both rails simultaneously rather than in parallel be better? or even work ok? So I was thinking of getting fuel lines made up that fit the 3.2 rails as below. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1488319514.jpg |
Gavin,
That is how I plumbed my 3.2 manifold. No issues. |
Great thanks dap930.
Next thing is injectors. My current injectors are Accel ACC-150136 https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/acc-150136/overview/?retaillocation=int The ones I've been looking at are Siemens A2C32624700 80 lb/hr Siemens Deka V Fuel Injectors High Impedance Injectors ( Short Style ) - CDL Enterprises, Inc. But there seems to be quite a difference in the length of them. The Accel is 2.88" (73mm) and the Siemens is 48mm (1.88") or at least that's what I can make out in the specs. Would these be OK for the Carrera intake with its factory fuel rail? |
No, get the long ones.
I'm not sure the exact name of these, but 80's Mustangs, Buick Grand Nationals, Camaro's, etc., used the same injector as the 3.2. |
I am running the Long Siemens/Deka 80lb/hr injectors and they fit perfectly. BTW, you can get them a bit cheaper from a multitude of vendors on Ebay for the same injector. I think i have $240 in all 6 of mine.

Ah OK, so like this style :
80 lb/hr Siemens Deka Fuel Injector High Impedance (Long Style) EV1 Connector - CDL Enterprises, Inc. Will be removing the SC intake this weekend and its studs. I've got a mobile tread specialist on standby to remove any studs that may break. Fingers crossed. I will also be stating to look at getting the TPS mounted to the 3.2 throttle body. Think it needs a spacer made. Hopefully the TurboKraft adapter kit will be here soon and I can get the longer studs in, injectors ordered and find someone to make up the fuel lines. |

Will do. I also heard that heating around the base of the stud and then touching wax on it helps.
The wax melts and is drawn down into the thread and works as a lubricant. Never tried it but several people say it works! |
Turbokraft makes the TPS adapter for the 3.2 Throttlebodies. That is what i used, and it saved a lot of time trying to rig something up.

Just sent Chris at TK a few pics of my TPS mounted loose on the Throttle body. I'll just check with him and if good will order the adaptor.
Intake came off OK, 7 studs came out OK, 5 still in. Left them to soak and will try again tomorrow. My Carrera intake looks to have all fuel lines already :) so I think I will only need to get the return line from the end of each fuel rial to the FPR made up. Nice to have a little less work to do for a change. |
If it were me, i would not trust the existing hoses. You could just get some braided hoses and make your own fuel lines with -AN fittings. You will need a few adapters to convert the -AN to metric. There is a company here in the US that sells the metric conversion fittings.

Just heard theirs a new Porsche magazine hitting the streets soon, Ultimate Porsche.
And they have decided to use the article on my car that was published in Retro Cars, plus it looks like I have made front cover again :) Just wish they could have waited until I get the enginel sorted with interior finished off and redo the photo shoot. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1488661013.jpg |
