Opinions on rear wing
I have been contemplating running the factory 930 wing or going with a newer 3.8 wing. I will be running the 965 bumpers and rockers.. for new member 930 project
Thoughs? Input on if the newer wing will be too much?

With that roll cage, at least a 3.8, maybe a banana wing.

I don't think the 3.8 wing would be "too much", but the 930 wing looks much better in my opinion . . .

I think the RSR style that your car lends to is in my opinion is the best look and it will balance your front spoiler also, so yes on the 3.8 wing.

Both will look great.
On your car the 3.8 wing may be the go. Looking awesome, great job on the cage.

Merlin:
There is only one real wing for serious early bodied Turbos !!! ![]() And it looked real good on the 964 Turbo S GT Le Mans. ![]() Cole

You obviously have good taste my friend, and double that with that very impressive build sheet of your's. Cole

Thank you Sir!
And let's point out the the leading edges of the whale tail section of the Turbo S tail makes it unique to say the least. This is the only tail that was never duplicated or sold. There were only one of these cars built by Porsche. Merlin would have to take a 935 tail and graft it to a 930 tail and fabricate the two leading edge air ducts to replicate it. I almost built one for my slant but felt it was too new looking for my car. I end up making a variation of a DP extended tail with bare carbon replacing the rubber lip. It still is a work in progress.

The first pic is a 934/935 tail and the second is the Turbo S GT LeMans. The Turbo S tail is essentially a 930 tail with the 935 sides and wing.

I'd go with something more subtle, the velvet hammer approach.

Brendon:
I didn't reply to your thread to start some pissing match over what tail you use. I just went through this and can tell you that the tail you use will be dictated by the unusually high intake and IC configuration you have. The two tails I posted are a good example of what I am refering to. The 934/ 935 tail and the 964 Turbo S LM tails use the same wing configuration but different deck lid configurations. This is because the Turbo S LM has a thinner lower profile IC and the 934/ 935 has a larger thicker IC and/or a flat fan and different intake set up. This is my 935 tail: ![]() My IC installed: it sets 1" above the fan shroud and is 2.5 inches thick and with the tail in place there is 1/2" clearence between the top of the IC and the tail louvers. ![]() Your IC installed on engine: ![]() As far as I know the 935 tail has the most clearence of any tail made and may need to be modified on your application. On my build I was going for a kind of 964 Turbo S LM look. My intent here was nothing more than to try and help you avoid some of the possible issues I experianced. Cole

Cole your a good man with all this info! Brendon's intake as places the throttle body just about where a 3.2 Carrera intake would be if the center section was cut and rotated. Only issue I for see is the lack of a plenum. Typically the plenum needs to be 1 -1.5 :1 of the engines displacement.
![]() Here is a side shot of my 4" core and how it is placed on top of my engine it has 3/4 clearence between the fan housing and the IC. ![]() I had to cur the deck lid extensivly and reinforce the upper rail after cutting just about all of it to gain clearance between the deck lid and the IC. I also had to cut the 930 tail section and extend it back 3" so the deck and tail would clear the IC. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So if he uses a 935 tail it would clear just about any IC. If he uses a 930 base, modifications to the deck lid and the base is a must.

![]() Another shot to give a better idea of how to do the transition from the IC core to the throttlebody. I am alittle concerned that the elbow from Brendon's IC is so close to the core it doesn't look (from the picture I can't see it) like the engine would get the maximum effect from the IC core.
