Question Inter cooler question

I had a buddy weld up 2 stock inter coolers for my 87 930 and I'm worried about crap in the coolers from the job. I soaked them and wiped out what I could but I'm wondering if I should hook up my leaf blower to blow it clean or is this amount of air going to make a difference. I have access to big compressors at work but worried about the volume and pressure from these.
How much volume can flow through the cooler? what would be the max pressure that you would run through it?
Anybody else do anything like this before?

Finn

BTW, my buddy did a super job, total cost = $150 including the coolers (2)

Just fill 'em full of soapy water and drain several times. Front flush/back flush/shake rattle and roll! Compressed air is just going to take the path of least resistance and may not clean all the vanes equally. Anyway, large CFM would be the ticket if you do the air thing. As long as the exit end is fully open, you shouldn't have to worry about pressure buildup.

I guess if you're really concerned about welding slag inside, then install a fine mesh screen inside the exit end (before the throttle body) to catch any flakes initially. Then take the IC back off, check for any stuff, and remove the screen.

I've heard of people stacking two stock IC's on top of each other but have never actually seen a pict of the result.

Quite often you can find these stock IC's going for a song, but most likely people think they're worth their weight in gold (I think driven by the sand rail people running with Porsche engines). A couple-three hundred bucks and some labor to weld the two together gets you a B&B, or Garritson, or RUF, or whatever lookalike. I wonder how they flow?

If you wanted to test the welds and check for any lose items inside,
its common to use something that will simulate the environment.

This hand little gadget is a simple solution used by many R&D labs,
rated at 200 ft lbs of force, however lateral "G's" are not rated,
only requires about 5 cfm to operate, not sure if ear or eye protection
is included in the box though; paint can not included however not required

Yasin, yes the top and bottom coolers are opened up to flow as one on mine, its a cheaper way to go and I don't think you'd get the same preformance as with a porpuse built cooler but it was cheap. I bought 2 coolers locally to me, 1 of them I got for free, just paid the shipping.
Sorry I don't have pic's, I don't know how to add them.
Thanks guys.

Slick, what are you going to use as shroud material between the IC and the tail? I have been looking for something to close in my new larger IC?
betting yours was cheaper than mine!
