I'm glad you got one of those and thats a real nice one.

I remember seeing them mounted by the shift knob or where the clock was in some 935's so the driver could take his right hand off the wheel and reach a few inches to turn it up and pass a car or whatever.

You've got the coolest shifter and center console in the 930 world and it changed the subject of this thread because it looks so good... excellent clean looking job on the console!

You're right, it changes the subject completely. When out and about around town, people come forward to look at the car, walking slowly around it, you know how they are, and always come up to me and say,"hay, what's that gold knob for?" They forget about the car completely and are dying to know what the heck the gold knob does. When I say something like "dial-a-death" they look totally perplexed. It's really kind of funny. Anyhow, thanks for the nice comments.

Any idea on time to remove and install the wevo and coupler?

I think there is an install thread on the 911 forum

Wevo Short Shift

I have fitted a wevo short shift and coupler to my 81 930. I took about two hours to do the instal and setup, including fitting the wevo coupler. Could do it quicker but I was doing a little experimenting and cleaning as I went.

If I was to do the coupler again, I would re-bush the factory unit. Easy and cost affective. There is a forum and "how to" on PP.

Really happy with the kit and the way the gearbox shifts now. My gearbox was tired when I first fitted the wevo kit. More positive gear selection and spring centering stopped all the accidental reverse selections.

Hope this helps
Cheers

Will the factory short shift kit that our sponsor sells also work in an 87 930, the description says 81-86, what's different in the 930 86-87?

JFairman 02-24-2013 07:51 AM

none until '89 when the 930 got a G50.

the 3.2 carrera got a G50 in '87 so to put it bluntly someone with brainfade or lack of knowledge made that mistake in the catalog.

edit: i really gotta always check my lousy spelling and keyboard plucking mistakes before posting!

i cant get past the price for the WEVO.

you would think for $600 you would not have to buy anything else to improve the shifting.

were are my antacid pills.....
