1983 930 # 757 seeking history
I own 1983 930 #757 and am seeking any history available for the car. Heres whats known: I bought it from Wichita, KS in 2011. It was in Wichita July 1987 thru fall of 2011. It was sold by Big Red Imports in July '87. Previous to those dates its murkier. I have a title copy (perhaps the first title) from Oct. 1983 for a Forest Lane Porsche in Dallas with a lien holder John Baer. I also have a North Carolina State vehicle inspection receipt from Sept. 1986 with the name: Albert B Chatham, ( Klondike Farm ?) North Carolina.
The car was originally Slate Blue Metallic w/ blue interior. Anybody know the early history of my car ??? Chris in Kansas City |

With an '83 Turbo being a Gray market European car I wouldn't think that Forest Lane being a franchised store would have been the original selling dealer.

![]() ![]() Regards 1983 #757. Hope these photos are suitable. I have a copy of a Texas title for #757. One side, dated 10/20/83 says: "OWNER: FOREST LANE PORSCHE AUDI ASSOC DALLAS TX" and "LIEN HOLDER: JOHN BAER 17000 PRESTON ROAD SUITE 210 DALLAS, TEX 75248" This is the oldest document I have with the car. Its possible the;4re was a previous owner and importer. |

the photos are from 18 months ago when I bought the car after 13 years in storage. Its now running again, missing parts found & installed. Oil cooler properly hung. Engine sounds & runs well. License plate comes tomorrow. Still many issues to sort out and your advice is appreciated. This is my 1st Porsche !
1) trans shifting seems very vague for all gears, compared to my Miata, Ranger PU, etc. !! 2nd gear especially has no "feel" that its actually engaged. Otherwise Trans sounds alright so far. 2) Speedo seems "jumpy". It doesnt register until 20-30 MPH ! 3) Exhaust sure seems awfully hot; yesterday after a 4 mile hiway drive, the back bumper was almost too warm to touch !!!??? cs |
