930 k29 oil issue
Im running a k29 and if i idle for more than a few min i start smoking like a volcano, till i get on the throttle for a few secs then it stops. I have the idle raised to 1600rpms which us the dune line bet smoke abd no smoke. Its a temp fix but its been a year now and canr take it abymore. Try idling at 1600 w full headers and exhaust and 500hp in a white picket fence neighborhood. Im well hated. Lol

Im pretty sure that rhe factoey pump isnt fast enough for the monster k29 and theirfor the oil overflows into the turbo, hence the smoke. Anyone have any sure fixes?

How big is the oil catch can? When I had my motor rebuilt, I sent out my K29 to UMW to be rebuilt. When everything was buttoned up, the motor would smoke like crazy. Got a bigger catch can and no more smoking.

Have you done a scavange pump test? Maybe at idle your scavange pump is wanting. It might not be that but it's good to do the test so you know it works properly.

Just saw this on a search and thought I ouldd my experience.
I had the same problem with my k27HF. I tested the scavenge pump and all checked out fine. The problem seems to be the increased tolerance of the turbo thrust bearing to allow more oil flow. For me the temporary fix was to plumb a line to the sump cover plate drain plug so the over flow would go to the case.

The stock scavenge pump's capacity is fine, provided it is in good working order.
The K29 is merely a K27 with a larger compressor wheel, so the bearing assembly is the same. Was the turbo rebuilt recently? Car just come out of winter storage?

...i have a k27 and had a similar problem that eventually was fixed with a rebuild...don't know what status is of your turbo, but in addition to all other factors, maybe your seals and/or bearings are failing, and there's oil shootin' through...maybe...

Do you have oil residue in your intercooler; and if so, how much?
