Front shock ground out fixed!!! thanks PP!
Took the front shocks out again this evening and pulled the inserts out and there they were, the bumpers I was grounded out on!!! I cut two of the three lobes off, removed the 1/2" spacer on the top and re-installed.
Now when I push down on the front end I get some deflection and rebound. Took car out for a test drive and am very happy with the results. Now the car is much more refined, no more harsh bangs from the front end over road cracks and bumps. A couple notes; 1. The archives were very helpful. I learned about the roll pin push-out tools and that I could find them at Sears. So I stopped in there at lunch and picked them up. Knocking out the pins was a breeze! 2. Since the car is set at 24" and 24.5" I was afraid I would have to raise the car back up to get the necessary travel for the shocks. Now I get the cool look and the good ride and handling 3. It is very satisfying to make these improvements. 4. Now I have to finish installing the audio, find the wind noise source and knock out the last couple rattles. At least for now. Brakes look good, bushings, ends, exhaust. But I found a rear CV joint boot that was torn. Oh well. next time. maybe Thanks for the help! Scott |
