distributor hoses

while pulling the decel / aar off the car today... i noticed that one vacum hose from the distributor - runs under the manifold - and is not connected to anything-its a red cloth hose....while searching around I found another hose, red material as well, coming from the back side of the throttle body, not connected as well.... but terminating in the same area.....

in that area there is a sensor/valve/breather....looks like at one time it had two nipples on it....one is broken off.....

the other vac line from the distributor ( blue cloth hose ) goes to the front of the throttle body.....
Do these two hoses attach to that breather? Distributor and vac line from tb
thanks for all your help so far

Distributor

The boost vac hose goes to that thingy, here is a diagram where it is by passed.

'78 SC Turbo Conversion Begins

If by passed don't know if you have to cap the ends, someone else might know.

Sounds like you have no vacuum advance at the moment... the car must be a real lazy slug like that.

The red hose is vacuum advance and the blue hose is vacuum retard on a 930 from '86 on.
You're in Florida so there's no emission testing and maybe the catalytic converter is long gone or in a box now.

Run a new vacuum hose from the throttle body where the red one is attached and connect the other end to the outer vacuum hose fitting on the distributor vacuum pot. Thats the one farthest to the left and farthest from the center of the distributor.
That one is your vacuum advance and boost retard if it's still working.
The blue hose is vacuum retard that only works below 1500rpm and during closed throttle deceleration for emission purposes and it sounds like yours is still connected.
The little broken vacuum thing in your picture is the thermovalve, it's part of the emissions system, you don't need it in Florida, and I explained it in another thread yesterday. Bypass it and ignore it because you don't need it when there is no catalytic converter or emission testing.

ty for the the diagram oil-only-printed an in my diy service manual

JFairman-the car is an 84 euro, dont know if that makes a difference..and the cats are gone=Florida!!!

you said that with the line not connected-must be a lazy slug....can you define what the result would be?

This is my first porsche/930/first time even riding in one.......Seems to run fine...Pretty lively actually-but maybe it should be even more responsive????

Remember the florida state troopers had the 5.0 hatchback mustangs?? Neighber had bought one at auction-pretty quick.....pulled up next to me last week on 41 and took off...I ran him down sooooo fast....like I said-no 930 experience to compare with but seems ok

here are a couple pics just to make sure.......

"A"is connected to "1"
"B" is connected to nothing
"2" is connected to nothing

you say to connect "2" to the one on left, farthest from center.....on mine that would be "A" and it is centered....... "B" is on right but off center......

What do you think? Connect????????

Thanks for your time and knowledge

Stoked please try this vac connection. The way you are doing it does not match the diagram i posted.

A connected to 2
B connected to thermovalve and from thermovalve to 1.
Or just connect B to 1 as per the diagram i posted.

I changed the vac lines to this configuration when I removed emissions as per advice from another poster. Car ran better for me. '87.
