Ken, if you haven't already bought some, the silicone plugs on Amazon worked well for me, as well as the heat resistant tape.

Only thing to keep in mind is that if you go over the recommended temps both the plug and tape will melt.

I got some of the engine tins done. I chose a satin black powder coat and they turned out ok.

Powder coated a few more parts today, the brackets for the AC compressor. Bright Aluminum looks almost like Chrome. I am very pleased with the way they look.

When you know you have the perfect wife!!!
! was installing the turbo oil feed like to make sure I got all the holes in the right spot for the mods to the rear engine tin. to be able to reach it had to pull the heat shield and the cold side of the turbo off. my fingers were too big to be able to reinstall the bolts that hold the heat shield on the hot side.

That's awesome that she'll chip in when needed. My wife would probably prefer that I order an Uber and pay the driver to help with such a task..! Great thread too.

These look great! I just started to try out my powder setup (using the Eastwood duel voltage) but struggled getting into some cavities due to the faraday effect. Did you drop the voltage way down when you did these? It looks like you got great coverage!

I primed them first. If you get the handbook from them it will tell you that you need to pull them out of the oven then spray the topcoat while it is still warm. that will cause it to stick in all the nooks and crannies.

Thank you! That did the trick. I am in the process of powder coating the cylinder cooling tin and was having difficulty getting it in the deep areas. It is certainly a learning process.

So the car has been at the painter since 22 feb 2022 . for the last 6 moths it's been going to be finished in next couple weeks. Very frustrating, since I dropped it off I found out I have lung cancer. just hoping it gets done while I'm still alive. Much less time to finish it and get it going again. and drive it while I'm still around.

Ken,
Really sorry to hear this. I’m pretty local to you so when you do get it back let me know if you need a second set of hands to complete it.

Bill

So sorry to read the news Ken. I can't believe this thread started almost 11-years ago.

I wish I was closer to help out with your 930, heck I would beat down the door of your painter for you to get the car finished and painted.

A good friend of mine in his 70s was diagnosed with lung cancer about 1.5-years ago, he went through Cemo and all the blood infusions and he is beating it. What are your doctors saying?

**** cancer. PM me the painters name and I will call him this morning and light him up. I shared on David’s thread that I had the same thing on my other car… after waiting and dropping it off only when he said he was ready to get into it, I got the same BS. They make sure to start on it, then push it in the back for collision work (there’s always a new one).

Very sorry to hear about the Dx. Travel to the best hospital in the country for your issue… do not limit yourself to the best one within commuting distance.
