Tial WG ID ???
Hi All:
I bought a used wastegate for the 3.0 SC turbo. I changed to a 930 factory exhaust system, and decided to get a WG that actually fits the stock manifold, as opposed to the Tial F38 I was using. The used WG is a Tial, in fairly good condition. It will not fit the factory manifold due to the stub of exhaust tube sticking up from the WG flange, which has an OD of 1.575" / 40mm. Dimensionally, the ID of the unknown Tial is 1.370" / 35mm. The WG seems to be an F40 Tial, but I can't tell from any dimensional analysis. If anyone can help ID this WG, I would appreciate the help. Maybe then I can see if I can get it to fit. TIA ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well, I took a chance on a used part. Unless I make an adapter, I don't think it will fit the 930 exhaust flange. Unfortunate, as it is in pretty good condition.

Why dont you have the face of that seat insert machined flush with the flange surface? Then it will fit nicely.
If the wastegate is not too small to create boost creep you should be ok. Fred

Fred, different bolt patterns, it seems. The Tial 40 is rectangular, and it looks like the 930 flange is square. Also, the Tial 40 inlet is not centered within the rectangle, it has a small offset. I ordered a new Tial 40 SS flange, and I'm going do a little cut and weld on the 930 WG tube.

Going to open the flange up 1.5 mm to match it to the 930 wastegate inlet pipe. Then I'll weld it on.

Tippy, I'm in a work on the car spurt. Let me check the flanges tomorrow. I don't remember if I welded it on or not. Memory is the second thing to go.
