Silly question.

I don't have a camera on me or I would post a pic, but I am so curious as to what the rubber cone that hangs down from the headliner by the rear view mirror is. It has vexed me for 30 years.

That is the auto heat, cabin temperature sensor - placed there on early cars with auto heat and later, was moved to dash, to the right of the steering wheel (a little disk with slots in it, not the cone). There is a picture of it in the linked thread.
