930 vs. 430 Ferrari

Been a while since I've posted......but here's the situation. Got invited to Ferrari Club event next weekend, and I'm wondering if I need a little extra "boost"? From prior posts, my car has approx. 530RWHP, Garret Turbo, Water Meth (not used much), and 1.1 Bar of boost. Tune is conservative never running above 12 AFR.

I will certainly be challenged on a few on-ramps - wondering should I bump up boost (1.2 bar) and/or get some race gas for the weekend? Want to be sure, I'm not left in the" red" dust!

Any comments/advise appreciated.

Frank

Uh, that 430 won't have a chance unless it has a super/turbocharger against yours!

Don't blow up your ride for the sake of a good run(or pride)...

Stay what works well in the past, and just go for it.

Good luck!

Rock

It is a different experience, in my opinion our 930's will hold their own against anything on the road.

One of my favorites is the 355, maybe Santa will be good to us this year

I had about 100whp less than yours and could easily do 124MPH in a 1/4 mile. The Ferrari might be in that range. I think it'll be no problem from a roll. From a standing start, it has the advantage......but who really gets that opportunity?

At 530 you should be fine. Though maybe some race gas just to mess with their heads a little lol.

I took a 458 from a rolling start of about 60mph with 557 RWHP. Your car will be fine as is!

Mount a video-camera looking out from rear-view window, to share with us?

A little info on the car Race version... Non race version weighs..1,450 kg (3,197 lb) Power (SAE): 490 hp @ 8,500 rpm; 343 ft lb of torque @ 5,250 rpm

Read more: http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2009/ferrari/f430/specifications/#ixzz2jmXJnFNu

That's if he maybe chipped and race exhaust--and worked on.

Originally based on the F430 Challenge, the F430 GT3 is a specialized racing car developed in 2006 by JMB Racing for the FIA GT3 European Championship and other national GT championships such as British GT and FFSA GT. It is mechanically similar to the F430 Challenge, but has better developed aerodynamics and more power.

The car uses the same 4.3 L V8 engine, tuned to produce 550 hp (410 kW; 558 PS), making the GT3 more powerful than its GT2 counterpart. However, due to the GT3 regulations stating that the car must have a power-to-weight ratio of around 2.6 kg/hp, the car weighs 1,219 kg (2,687 lb) in race trim (driver and fuel excluded),[22] which is roughly 119 kg (262 lb) more than the GT2 spec car. Despite the higher power, it is significantly slower than the GT2 version; for example, in the 2007 Spa 24 Hours endurance race, in which both models were entered, the GT3 spec vehicles' best qualification time was around 8 seconds slower per lap than that set by the GT2 spec vehicle.

Since 2007 a technical partnership between Kessel Racing and JMB brought the production of an Evolution

I would race him on a roll 60-130mph-- shouldn't be a problem for u...But not from a standstill.

Looking at it from a different perspective....in 1st, 2nd, and some of 3rd - if my car pulled any harder, it would lose traction. I have to deliberately feather the gas to not fishtail (even at 60mph), and the weight is over the back tires!

Really hard to get more power to the ground anyway. Guess, I should be more worried about the lambos and GTR's with all-wheel

Probably will "dial" another .1 BAR and mix a little race fuel in - just to be prepared

Eddie Bello came over my house last year, and told me I could get another 100HP easy with race gas and modified tune. Still 600 shy of his monster - amazing.

We're outclassed with those all wheel drive cars now. There is really not much we can do short of slicks to keep up with them on a standing start. But with a roll....a higher speed roll....there is a chance with them. The Ferrari is no problem though.
