So what happened to Funfgruppen

It goes to the Porsche 935 wiki page when you type in funfgruppen.com

I'm no guru with web hosting, but IIRC, if one forgets to renew their domain address subscription, they get something very similar to this once it's switched off...perhaps an oversight on their (or their web hosting partners) behalf?

Strange that there's radio silence as well though....

They are posting a flat fan product install over in the common 911 technical board so they are working products.

Easy now, please. I bet there is a perfectly good reason. They are most likely real busy. If you notice juice hasn't posted much for quite a while. Just keeping the head above the water, trying to post updates on the Dzug products.

I think they are , right now, realizing the business they have created takes loads of time in order to fulfill their ambitions.

It sounds like rational business decision making to me. Despite whatever marketing "story" surrounds a business and the people behind it, in the end it's business...not philanthropy. I've met both Pete and Justin (drove my 930 many miles and hours to participate in a number of turbopalooza events). They are decent folk from what I have seen, and absolute pcar enthusiasts. I also gather that they are ultimately capitalists, like all of us who have the means to own Porsches. I suspect that the forum consumed a fair amount of their limited resources, and they felt wasn't generating revenue sufficient to justify the continued effort of maintaining it. How much traffic do you think that website received? How many hits to that website lead to sales of their products? Likely it's just that simple.

This pelican forum, as much as we love it, is nothing more than a massive advertisement for pelican parts. Given the size and complexity of pelican's web sales portal, I'd imagine Wayne employs 1 or more full time web developers. It's not a lot of incremental work for those web developers to maintain these forums, and you can be damn sure the forums generate huge amounts of sales for Pelican Parts. They can track who clicked through the forums to purchase parts...I have no doubt that Wayne looks at those statistics. He's clearly a smart business man, and you can bet that this forum would be shut down in a heartbeat if the click through statistics indicated it was a money loser. Sure we would all be bummed out about it, but it would be our fault for using the forum and not "paying for it" by purchasing parts from Pelican.

Following this thread, I have a few of observations for you to consider. This site has a reoccurring theme of people paying stupid money often to self promoting businesses. Both become almost idolized.... but only right here on the Turbo site.
To top off this display, each invariably sells off and disappears. We have again witnessed the end of one of these cycles. This site has more that it's share of check writers.
You strike me as a guy who is resourceful, either by desire for the challenge or by necessity. Go to the technical side of Pelican and announce you have seen the light. Turbocharging is an addiction and you are beginning your program by pulling it off and building your engine to traditional N.A. configuration. You will find and keep many more like- minded, steadfast supporters over there.

That's called marketing. Close Up toothpaste differentiated their product from Colgate and Crest by advertising it with pictures of young attractive couples kissing and canoodling. The message is that if you use their toothpaste, you're going to have lots of nookie. Do we really believe that will happen if we buy Close Up brand toothpaste over Crest? I sure as hell don't

I seriously doubt D-Zug is making lots of money. Who knows if it breaks even. I look at that venture as a way for a couple of enthusiasts to defray the cost of their own hobby. The market is way too small for anything else IMHO. I don't expect anyone to incur losses year after year just because the enthusiast community is "counting" on them...

++1 Here... I've purchased items from them in the past and have been very pleased with the quality and service. I hope for the best for them, but understand what Jacob said, too...

GS, you seem like you're a pretty sensitive guy.
What happened to politeness on this forum?

You have to let this one go.

By the way, the D-Zug website is still up at least; I just went on for one of the cylinder jug beer steins as a gift and they were out of stock. Bummer.

I'd consider Pete and Justin acquaintances rather than friends. There's no bad ju ju going on btw me and them, nor are we bffs. I've purchased 0, nada, zilch products from them BTW. I'm not sure I would characterize my statements as "defending" them either, rather I am trying to offer a rational explanation for the forum's disappearance. I suspect the forum is a massive time suck, and they'd rather be doing other things. Justin is an MD by the way, I don't think he's quit his day job because of the massive piles of dough they're raking in selling strut braces, shifters and beer mugs. More likely, the business provides an opportunity to take a tax write-off for that flat fan he always wanted. If they are able to build it into a profit making enterprise, good on them.

The only reason I jumped in here at all is because you seem rather irrationally bent out of shape about this. If you brought your "crazy" to the party when you contacted these guys about the forum's future, I can't say I'd blame them for not getting back to you.

You wrote "I feel betrayed the same way I did when Jeff promised his wheels and I missed the initial offer he made before he sold them to the very people that inspired D-Zug and now it feels the same way all over"

So, you feel betrayed that you missed out on the initial run of Jeff Alton Fuchs replicas, and then he sold the design to Zuffenhaus? Betrayed? Really? Have you listened to yourself? Did you put $ on the table here? If no, I have a hard time understanding a feeling of betrayal.

refer to copbait's post above...I really appreciate this forum and the folks like you who contribute to this community, but I am worried about you man.

IIRC Gabe was running the site?

Pete & Dokktah are up to their gonads in prod dev & mfg as Colonel Frank noted.

Not to mention, it's a real hectic time of the year for most w/ the holidaze, etc.

What, a few hours / days pass without a response to your demand for justice and you start 50cal'ing the forum(s)? I'd forgotten about last year's post ref'd above, the mention of your mind not being right due to your circumstance probably / hopefully has something to do with your unraveling here? (hopefully, as in, not that I hope you're not well - I really hope you are - but, hopefully, as in, it would explain why you've lost yer sheeat).

Hey, we've all been there (losin our respective sheeat's), the key is learning and moving on. We're all here trying, trying to steer ya there brutha 8-). Yer a good dewd Jerry... keep on keepin on.

Peteski et al will invariably chime in when they're able. Just b/c they've log'd into the forum doesn't mean they've got time to address such things.

Have a great Holiday, good sir... your Brethren are here for you - thru thick / thin, as always...

ps. this: (promise not the same 'type' as the "Happy 60th Mark" version - those are reserved for Speshul Occazion)
