Ultimately there was no help for the people in the car, but the kid who shot this video was obviously more interested in capturing it than he was in even attempting to render any type of assistance ... just in case. I've seen human beings survive when they shouldn't - you've gotta try.

"It's gonna blow up, it's gonna blow up". This brave kid's seen too many movies.

That car was traveling unbelievably fast, in a city no less, to look that bad.
You can't fault the shooter of the video. It looked like the occupants of the vehicle were beyond any help that any untrained bystanders could offer.

100% agree - you must make an attempt! I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing I didn't even try to help... But maybe he did when he stopped filming who knows...

I've been to several courses of fire, and the first rule is that one should not expose themselves to danger, but have they had any fire extinguisher ready they should try. As seen in the video with those flame the heat is intense ,without access to any fire extinguishing it is not easy to do anything. But I do not know if I'd managed to not responded.

RIP

We've all driven faster than we should have at times, I'm not judging, could have been there myself many times. Prayers with family and friends of both occupants.

Sad, sad story

Rest in peace young man.

It looks like a Carrera GT? Whatever it was, our high performance machines are scary and it only takes a few seconds to get very ugly. I have owned my 1987 930 cab for several years and still have not mastered the technique as well as I would like.
Word to the wise, Please be careful when on the gas

It's a shame, when I first heard it about the accident I thought it was a hoax. A few hours later I was sad to hear that they lost their lives, and in such a brutal manner. I especially feel for both their families.

Then again, I stop and really hope this does not start some sort of stupid movement against high performance vehicles. As heart wrenching as it all is, it could of been avoided.

From what I have had to read thus far it has been a little difficult to understand if they were in fact horsing around doing figure eights prior, if they were going too a event or leaving from the attended charity event which brings more questions such as was Alcohol involved, and
or was it just two grown Men horsing around and suddenly ( **** just got real. )

A Carrera GT does not just burst into flames, these two were moving at a ultra high rate of speed. " That is for damn sure. "

None the lesser RIP.

The Lesson Here

Terrible, Sad and so Unnecessary.
I hope everyone of us in the fast car hobby takes away a lesson here to so honor those guys. So there death is not in vein.

The lesson;
Please, please, please get some decent driver training before even thinking about approaching or surpassing the 3 digit speed mark.

I have been mostly lurking here working/restoring my 930 for a couple of years. I am an amateur sportscar road-racer. I have learned and taught what I believe is a more appropriate framework for the body, mind and spirit to engage in managing a high speed vehicle.

These 930s are fun, fast and terribly furious in the wrong, uninitiated and tragically naive hands.

Guys and Gals.....pause. Let this terribly tragic event sink deep into your fun seeking psyche and check yourself out. Ask; am I qualified to manage this puppy this fast? It has so often been the case with students after a driving school that their awareness upon completion leads them to really wonder who they were before the school. They thought before the school they had it under control. NOT! And this was on the track. On the street is so way risky.

I Hate the picture at the start of this thread. Hate It!! I'm am moved and want all of you/us to be more fully available to enjoy these cars. That means not only being here(not dead) it also means being in the car with a more appropriate state of confidence and awareness that brings with it IMHO an elevated state of joy.

Please, let us all honor those guys with some appropriate honest self assessment around egotism and capability. And seek the more elevated levels of the fun factor after the training.

Good Luck, Skill and Joy,

Gary Siemion
