Yes, the factory seats will go back in.
Assuming they fit, I am taking the Sparco EVOs out and swapping them into my race car. These MOMOs will come out of my race car, and I will sell them. Proceeds of sale to be put towards reducing the buy-in price of the car for Mark. http://asbury.smugmug.com/By-Land/87...23500077-L.jpg http://asbury.smugmug.com/By-Land/87...23501822-L.jpg |
Jacob, I know you were given a bit of this a while back, but here is a well deserved 2nd serving - http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/funny/1/...issing-ass.gif :D

Hey kids---whoowhooo---my contractor is going to start the demolition of my home this weekend! But the first activity will be to drag the 930's toasted carcass out of the garage and expose her to the light of day. Not sure I want to see that, but here it comes. She'll be staged outside next to the rest of the internal combustion vehicles that "externally" combusted almost 3 months ago to the day. I'll soon have a better look at salvagability of the drivetrain, etc.
It's been sitting in a rather caustic environment up 'till now (here's some chemistry 101: the ancients used to make a weak caustic solution by adding water to ashes, and using that mixture - when added to lard - to make soap). There are several inches of wet ashes in the garage....do the math. Pictures forthcoming when I get around to it. Meanwhile, thanks everyone for your continued support! |
Mark, Thanks for the update, keep 'em coming!
|
Drug out the carcass this weekend; my contractor is currently ripping the house apart (fiinally beginning what is an ugly process).
Though sometimes it seems like a dream, this is really real. Unfortunately it's going to be close to 5 months before I can move back in....and that means 5 months before I can drag the poor old girl back inside and commense to pull out the drive train to see what's what. Some epic pictures to upset your stomach this fine morning! Right side...ugh! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398783198.jpg Left side: Note that one wheel survived...relatively speaking. 3000GT is in the background http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398783218.jpg Note all the fiberglass shreds from the tail. The IC survived and is in safe haven http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398783237.jpg |
Inside of the motor is very likely just fine and worth a lot of money. So is the transaxle.
It didn't get too hot in the motor compartment because there are a bunch of rubber hoses including the fabric covered one going from the turbo sump tank up to the air cleaner housing that are still very much there. The rubber intercooler bushing looks somewhat melted and scorched but you can still see them. I don't know what temp the plastic injector blocks melt but they're still there too along with a bunch of magnesium engine parts. That deceleration valve just might not work right anymore :/ |
 this is tuff to look at but ...
I think your right , there may be more than you thought to salvage , is the fan belt still there ? Kozmo |

Most of the fire and heat was up front (but of course, 20 gallons of gas) and to the right of the car (it was backed into the garage, and to the right were all the motorcycles with gas in their tanks). That in part explains why the left rear wheel took the least amount of damage, and perhaps why the engine "seems" to have faired as well as it did. Also note, you can still see the rubber cover for the boost gauge sender intact. Probably made of a high temp silicon, but again that tells us something about the heat in there. Kozmo, I'm not sure the fan belt is still there. Would have to look again. |
heck, I still see rubber bumper trim and some semblance of chrome on the B&B tips
agreed, doesn't appear to have gotten 'that' hot back thar! makes sense - fuel tank goes POOF, garage doors compromised, and all the fire rushes OUT... and towards your poor unsuspecting innocent VR4 8-/ but the rearward portions appear only surficially impacted you'll fetch princely sums for the drivetrain and I'm betting the tub is definitely salvageable yer right tho - def tough to look at... I cannot fathom the SMELL! Ewwwwwww... crispaaaaay. Sucks is, everytime you ever smell something like 'that' going forward in life, you'll forever be reminded of this. Sense of smell's funny like that... |

Morning, All-
Update as of 5/20/14: Our endeavor stands this morning at $12,225 amazing dollars shared amongst a generous 110 of Mark's brethren Mark's Fire Recovery Fund | Help a Neighbor - YouCaring.com- pretty impressive! Then: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/7IdtNtHXObY?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> NOW! http://asbury.smugmug.com/By-Land/87...19571972-L.jpg While 74 days in our effort remain as we had initially established a 180-Day timeframe toward this cause, the momentum has decreased to the point of reviewing the circumstance. A detail within this cause Mark had suggested early on was that if the fund didn't reach it's original goal of $30,000 within the open period, refunds would be issued. As the goal changed with Jake's uberscore of the GP '87 Phoenix @ $25beans and coupled with the contribution momentum winding down, Mark has committed to funding the spread between fund balance and Phoenix Rising costs. Before we proceed, it felt best to reach out to Mark's 110 benefactors to share that motion. Everyone involved with this has enjoyed a number of valued elements from their participation - the demonstrable camaraderie and familial loyalty displayed so prevalent. Profound, really. Be sure to join us in PA 7/24-27 for Mark's Phoenix Rising extravaganzadanza with yetanother JNR installment of http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/799260-turbopalooza-2014-special-stages-pa-ny-july-24-27-a.html. Be there with us all as Mark slithers behind the seat of something that was so sternly extinguished (literally) from him, and behold the childish grin. Tickfrickintock, gentz... |

To all our valued Pelicanites,
Janary 24 was an earth shattering day of losses for me, but trumping that was January 31 when Paul Krasusky proposed puting together a benefit fund to assist with getting me back in the saddle. Honestly guys, at the time I felt like my days of ever enjoying a 930 again were long gone and I would just have to wallow in the memories. Fast forward to today, and I get all emotional with the generosity of 116 donations on my behalf. My heartfelt thanks go out to all of you, for the good wishes and/or donations. I just can't seem to wrap my mind around this giving and caring brotherhood that we have here. A lofty goal was set and was fanned to life by yet another extremely generous motion when Jacob Asbury purchased an almost exact replica of my lost girl - to hold while this story unfolded. Although the original goal has not been reached, you have made it possible for me once again to not only sit behind the wheel of another 930, but to own her outright! In deference to making Jacob whole once again AND to put a 930 back in my garage (well....whenver I have a garage, that is) it's time to put a stake in the ground and close out the donation site that Paul put together. We'll let it run through this Sunday and call it quits. I will make up the difference and arrange shipment back to the great Pacific Northwest. Friends, thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I'm indebted for the rest of my life and vow to help you and this entire community in any way I can going forward. Pictures and videos will be forthcoming, once she lands "home". |
Hey Mark, I'm really excited for you about all of this (and NO not excited about YOU in "that" way)! :D
And if you start feeling too emotional, let me know, and I will post some ugly comments as a form of remedy for that. For example - you mentioned in another thread that you were glad to have me in your "circle", well listen here Bub, that is all fine and dandy, but don't get yer hopes up about that materializing into a "circle-jerk" anytime soon (or later)!!! :D Does that help ?!?!?! |
