In Germany I drove a Avant S4 (station wagon of the tested car) in some autobahn over 240km/h. I did an experience: I pulled of my hands of the steering wheel and pressed the brake. The car stopped in a straight line with no fading. I got impressed with brake system and ABS efficiency.

Overboost
It was a resource that we used in Formula 1 turbo era. At the moment to pass another car we only pressed a button on the steering wheel and the turbo exceed a higher pressure above the engine. The S4 has this same resource, but it’s automatic. The engine receives 25cv more instantly. To overcome a truck in a single road the overboost ensures this action faster and safely.

i have also read that there are quite a few race car drivers that put the 928 at the top of their list.

i just watched "senna" again, actually 3 times in a row back to back.

While I was doing an internship at Porsche North America Motorsports in the early 90's, I got to drive a 928 S4 GTS...extremely competent car, but very little to do except point and shoot it. Little driver involvement.

Someone stated Senna sold Audi's? Coming from a family with very deep pockets and totally dedicated to his racing, that's one I find hard to believe he reduced himself to a car salesman.

Does it say somewhere in the article that Senna said it was demoralizing? Both the article and caption next to the picture that was posted above say that Denis Jenkinson said it was demoralizing. Hard to believe that Senna who drove F1 thought a 930 was too much for him to cope with.

T77911S, Prost had retired by the time Senna passed.

Edit , OK see it in the next post but very hard to believe he was demoralized by a 930. The dude was driving cars way faster and squirly then a 930 as fast as he could in the rain.

Don't you think that remark of him in the photo was a spoof? However in some states if you buy and sell two or more cars in a year you must apply for dealer and salesman license . How many cars have you curbed in any given year? By this legal definition many on this forum might just be closet car salesman. I have, and that is one reason why I am a law abiding Licensed dealer and car salesman. (Also currently a Porsche 930 collector who will buy and sell some from time to time)

When I think of Formula 1 guys and 930's, I think of Danny Ongais. The Flyin' Hawaiian came to Formula 1 via ... NHRA drag racing. He only had a couple of starts. Probably most famous for Indianapolis. He jumped in Scott Brayton's car when he was killed in practice and finished 7th. He could, and did, drive a 930.

yes, but at the end of the movie when he crashed, it looked like prost was now on the "tech" side of the team. did they make amends and prost join team on the management side?

Prost was actually an announcer for French coverage of F1 by 1994 and the two had made amends. A few days before Imola, Senna was filming an in-car lap for the channel Alain worked and stated, "A special hello to my,... to our dear friend Alain. We all miss you Alain."

Prost was a pall-bearer at his funeral also.

I'm not sure, but Prost may have been working for Renault in 1994 as he does today, but I doubt it due to his commitments announcing the races.

Yeppo, see the bottom of that urS4 ad "Senna Imports" aka Audi Brazil till ~'05. I'd say, to a certain extent, a race team is in sales but that could be another thread. Anyway, lest I appear to know more than I do, a member of S2 Forum says:

The car test happend in Interlagos circuit I believe that in the beginning of 1994. There is a history that before Brazilian Grand Prix (second race of the season) Senna went to Interlagos in the middle of the week and with Interlagos‘ Director (Edgard Mello Filho) Senna drove his Audi at the track but on the wrong way.

The official sales of Audi started in Brazil in 1994 by Senna Import, some years later Audi AG bought 51% of the company and the name changed to Audi Senna, and when the contract expired the name changed to Audi Brasil. My father worked 8 years in these companies at technical department. He told me that sometimes an employee of Senna family went to technical department with his S4 V8 and a Honda NSX to a maintenance.

I lurk around in preparation for the day my twins start Kindergarten (Q32015) and I save a hefty sum per month; we'll see if that record makes it to project car #2 payable or just Daily Driver.
