I know many convertibles are less stable than their hardtop counterparts, but few convertibles were designed to be just as stable as a hardtop. With that said, how stable is a 930 Cabriolet?
Also, what's the safest top speed to run with the top up on a 930 Cab? I've been told my convertible top would fly right off if I was to take my 930 Slant up to its top speed of 217 mph, but I want to know what the safest top speed is to run with the top up. Thanks,

Top Up in Texas!!! Why?
Mine is the manual version that is manually lock up and there is no way it would come up at any speed...

Oh, which convertibles are those? All open cars exhibit some cowl shake and/or flex.

That is 19 mph more than the 2014 Porsche 991 Turbo S (limited to 198 mph). Should post the video. The 2014 Porsche 991 Turbo S takes just 3.1 seconds from 0-100 km/h and 10.3 seconds from 0-200 km/h. The top speed of the Turbo S is limited to 318 km/h. I have the power convertible top, and I actually rarely drive with the top down, even when the weather's nice to prevent any wind resistance...if there is any with the top down, that is.

No, I've never topped my car out before, the top speed was written in its build documents from Protomotive. The fastest I've driven it was 150 mph.

Well, my car's top speed may seem unrealistic, but it's possible. Slants are aerodynamic and unlike many sports cars of today, they are also light. Those two things combined with 545 hp would likely make it to 217 mph.
The top speed was written in the Protomotive build documents of my car, so the cars they modify were apparently tested at some point.

The McLaren MP4-12C convertible and the C7 Corvette convertible. Those are the only ones I know at the moment, and according to a review I read, they are the most stable of all convertibles.

As you can figure out from my post and WPOZZZ, 217 MPH is kind of doubtful but I'll eat Humble/Crow pie if it does.
I had mine in the 200 Km/h range and its stable. Wind noise is reduce by the wind screen so there is almost no air inside the cab. Cabs are made to ridden with the top down and in real life if you lose a few MPH so be it. Nothing like going at hight speed while earring bird signing from the overhead wires...

Just for the sake of friendly BS about realistic top speed numbers, and by way of comparison, Eddie Bello did 228.5 at the Texas Mile in 2010, and his car (1994 911 - narrow body style) has over 1200 RWHP.

slim chance
I would put five bucks on the fact a "roadable" 930 will not make 217 mph, more so an open one. Mine is ok at 140, but that is a long way from 217.

It could do it with the sacrifice of bottom end
maybe protomotive put in a very low ratio diff to get those numbers? what is their 0-60 performance figures?

It'd take some very tall gears for 217. What gear sets/diff ratios does it have?
My G50 Carrera easily cruised at 140. Was quite surprised it only took about 1/4 throttle to maintain that speed. |

For the Stage 3 mods, which my car has, the 0-60 time is 3.4 seconds, and a 1/4-mile time of 10.8 seconds at 142 mph.

My car has a 930 G50, but I don't really know what the gear ratios are, and the Protomotive records just say "Turbo body and gears". With a Carrera G50, the top speed would be 183 mph, as also stated in the records.

I can provide scans of my car's Protomotive records if needed.
