Dave, you may be on the right track with your comment about Alan Johnson possibly tweaking this vehicle with some factory parts back in the day (the work done by his shop was first rate).
My 79 930 color to sample done to SN by Alan Johnson in 83 with early non vented fenders, modified engine,'trans and suspension for vintage road and track use. Some were informed back then on how to get the factory race parts. Alan Johnson ( AJ USA) built some neat stuff well beyond what you could order from your regular Porsche dealer. Worth less than a factory car to some? Own and drive both, I have.

Like you, my 78 930 was done by Alan Johnson around that same timeline. From what I remember in the late 80's early 90's, they were the dealer to go to for these conversion using factory parts, and that not all US dealers could even get parts for the conversion from the factory. None the less, as you've stated, they had an extensive lists of goodies that could be had! Don't ya just love these cars?

Yes, you have a very nicely done conversion with factory parts. Probably ultra smith or ajusa.
Great car.

I would agree a very nicely done conversion, I would think by AJ Racing given the use of factory parts and that Ultrasmith primarily dealt with electronic upgrades back in that era.
