My first Porsche

Hello gents. After a year and a half of dreaming and searching I found the right P-car for me to start with. I just drove it home 4+ hours from the previous owners house.

What an amazing trip and experience. I'm thrilled to have this car and to start having some serious fun and do some road trips with my young son. The car is a 1975 911 Carrera. It was a very clean car that the PO bought but the original motor was long gone so he made a bit of a hotrod. It has a 87 3.3 turbo motor and a number of engine and suspension upgrades. It been tracked quite a bit and has won the 1 lap of America 4 years in a row in its class. Almost won overall 1 year but had a mechanical failure in the last race.

Anyways it has a number of things done to it and as I work on it I know I'll gave plenty of questions. Looking forward to this!

I have since removed most of the decals you see in the pics below, it did look kinda cool with the stickers but it looks really good without too! I had originally thought i'd change this back to a Impact bumper 930 look, but I've really started to like the look of the car as it is.

First things to do:
- change out seats, something a little wider, less restricting in the leg area.
- maybe change rims or give them a good cleaning first.
- install front licence plate mount
- get heaters or defrost working for cooler driving temps
- recover or replace dash top.

Lots more as I thinking of them...

Here are some pics, for some reason I had to upload these from my PC, the ipad wouldn't let me upload pics. The last pic is how the car started out when the PO bought it.

Thanks guys, it is a mean machine, pulls like crazy when the boost hits. I love its Jeckyll and Hyde attitude, I can just idle around nicely then when you squeeze the gas, its just takes off like a shot out of a cannon!
Apparently its a stage 2 upgrade from the stock 930 turbo, i'm not really sure what that means and may be quite tame compared to other upgraded 930s out there but it certainly gets my respect and attention.

The good thing is, is your intercooler is huge and should stay nice and cool for many laps.

I mean, that is a huge IC! Jealous....

Yes it is huge!! Perhaps almost too big, it doesn't even fit well under that huge wing. I'd actually prefer to have a ducktail but I think there is no chance at all unless I can change the angle of the intercooler and lower it. On second thought I guess a ducktail would cover the intercooler making it non functional. :/

Looks Great. As for the front plate, I ran 4 years without until one day...

You get a warning and your name stay in the database.

I mount mine way below the bumper at a 45 degree angle and I don't see it while driving

Very cool car!

Speaking of the intercooler - I wonder why someone used those large aluminum strips to anchor it as is sure would look much better with rods and rod ends/heim joints.

In regards to the plate I was thinking about ordering the bracket from Rennline that threads into the tow hook mount, apparently the threaded insert is there, I just have to drill a hole in the front bumper to access it.

The intercooler mounting does seem like overkill but this car has done some serious racing and was clocked at 175 mph during the One Lap of America. Many things I think were over built on it. Its a very reliable and durable car. I'm going to see how easy it is to remove the intercooler soon, I don't think it's a quick easy job, I'll see if I can change that since it blocks everything, I can see having to remove it often.

Yes she need a wash...

I use zip tie to hold it there so if you go to car show snip it off when you get there.

Ride without until you get your warning (carry the plate under the seat).

Very cool. I see it was from Quebec?
If you don't mind asking what did you pay for it?

I would continue to track it

puddy (man, you need to give us your first name at least),
That's one really cool car you got there! It's good to know that someone's interested in a street/track car especially for a first time Porsche owner! Do keep us up to date on your experience with your 911 beast and be safe!

Thanks for the compliments guys!

I don't mind saying I paid $35k for it. Which was his asking price. I think I got great value in it, especially for a car this fast. I'm sure it could easily cost twice as much to build it. Plus I got a bunch of spare parts etc.

Cheers, Chris.

Chris,

I think you did a very good deal.

You need to bring her to Calabogie next year for a DE

Thanks JJ!

I was at Calabogue a couple years ago in my shelby cobra replica, I loved the track! They almost wouldn't let me run because of my 95 db exhaust. Anyways I'd love to take the Porsche there next year. I'll watch the calendars for a calabogie date!
