What is the best half bay aftermarket intercooler, ruf, andial, B&B,Kokeln? Simple question, I would appreciate a simple answer...

Lots of love out there for the Garretson core ICs, like the Andial. But what really is "best". I think it is the best balance of temp drop and pressure drop. Andial is a good one.

And I may be getting a full bay so the Kokeln from my 79 may be available. No bent fins excellent shape with shroud.

the results speak for themselves with the older units. Turbokraft is by far the best new option out there.

Not a simple question to answer since that is highly subjective.

If you're looking for something new your choices are limited.

I run a B&B but I would jump at that Kokeln longneck.

I ran with B&B short neck and was happy with it. Now, it just needs a little (well, a lot) of elbow grease to clean off all the black goo, and I'll either install it on my new ride or sell it. B&B may not be the best of the best, but I would venture to say that anything that more than doubles your cooling capacity is a good thing.

I would look at total cooling area available that fits your application such as a/c or efi. Depending on where you live you may want to shove as much i/c in there as possible. Also in my world at least, what is your budget. Do the math of capacity, budget, keeping in mind future modifications. Don't spend where it doesn't make payback sense.

If you can not find one used for a good price, then you could look to a competent intercooler maker such as Bell Intercoolers in TX.
They made my full width I/C for under $1500 (3 years ago pricing). I am sure that a half bay I/C would be quite a bit less.

I have the TurboKraft longneck as does member Jeff NJ. Jeff has an upgrade thread going on at the moment and I recall a pic of the IC in his thread. The TK long neck bolts up with relatively little fabrication. It's very well made, looks period and is effective.

Hey Will, it did bolt up fairly easily. No grinding, bending or fabbing required!

Very happy with the looks and the install. We shall see what the performance increase is, but since I changed so much, I will never know what that did on its own. It is much, much bigger than stock, similar to the ones listed above.

+1 on TurboKraft

A fullbay I/C is on the list for my 930 after I am back up and running again.

Wow, I know I'll catch hell for this but what impresses me is how good the stock one is for a thin cheap core design. Porsche really did get about 80% of the goodness out of it.
To think I paid $100 for mine and five years from now it will be worth 5 times this when prevailing market prices drive everyone back to stock configuration.

Add one water/meth nozzle to a stock IC and you can support 500HP on the stock unit.

I agree, it cools and intercools. However one can not cool 500 HP without a flat fan. At least Porsche proved to themselves this is true.
Yes one can make the rollers on a dyno say there is 500 HP present, maybe, for a split second.
