79 930 not getting any love on ebay

Hey guys just listed my 79 silver 930 with 27k miles and a lot of really cool RUF upgrades on ebay, last check it was only at $45,100 I wonder if people think it's a worn out track rat?

Beautiful car, I'd be all over that if I had the cash!

FStarr, I'm curious to know where the primary a/c condenser is on your car (since it's not in the tail).

Maybe the bidding hasn't gone nuts on your low-mileage Turbo because it appears the the biggest spenders for these cars are looking for the most nerdy examples of them, and yours is the opposite (well, except for the low mileage = waaaayyyyyy nerdy right thar )?!

eBay doesn't bid up until the last day and then the last few minutes. It's a goofy process that doesn't represent the buyer or seller well.

.....and if they are using a bid sniping program, the bids are placed in the last 0.3 second.

That is an awesome car. eBay will get you wide exposure, but a lot of transactions happen off eBay. Put your phone number in the eBay ad. I bet you get a phone call and someone makes you a straight offer on that car, or asks you what it will take to "buy it now"

Maybe because everyone is saving for the '89 speedster with 42 miles on it for $850,000.

Sharp looking car...but your ad is a little weak. Take more photos and give a better description. The intercooler has the Ruf engine sticker. Is it a 3.4L Ruf conversion. If so, when and who did the engine work. Do you have receipts? Paper work? Long term storage can mean major $$$ in refreshing worn out items from just sitting. Mileage is low but condition is key. Are you a dealer or an enthusiast? Keep in mind this is not a $10k car...so improve your ad as if you car was woth every penny...

Btw if you're going to ask the question here, you might want to post your asking price..as someone here may want to take it off your hands...just saying.

I've been outbid at the last second several times by this. What is it and how does it work? I assume there is a max bid involved or does it just work faster than eBay can re-enter the next pre-programed max bid (mine)?

Thanks for the input guys not trying that hard to sell it. My first Porsche and I love it I now see why so many people are crazy about these car's. The RUF factory has no record of the car, it has twin plug heads, I'll post the #s from the block and head's I've had a hard time finding any history on the car but I'm building my own file. Large ac condenser under the car. Compression is between 107 and 112 on all 6 cyl. Really just trying to find out market value and if the RUF stuff hurt's or help's thanks

This car has many pluses(imo). The Ruf 5 speed is desirable, the intercooler is rare, the seats are period correctness(aftermarket) awesomeness, the front spoiler is unique(could be a Kremer one-off) and the wheels are by far one of the nicest aftermarket wheels made for the car. In stock form the car may be worth more but for me, the car is perfect the way it sits.

So all you're doing is testing the market and not all that interested in selling? I know I am being harsh, but you're wasting our time and yours. Listen to Speednme1, he has provided some excellent feedback

That front valence is pure artwork. Would much rather that than the poly Ruf one that I have on my 88. Love that you didn't lose the stock rubber lower piece.

Why is there a Ruf sticker on a Kremer IC?

Put this thread in Marketplace if you just want to see what it is worth. I would be pissed if I bid on EBay, win and you pulled the car back. Really pissed. Really shady.

I was going to say that the IC looks nothing like any Ruf IC I've seen. Calling it one probably raises quite a bit of doubt with buyers

I've bought and sold on eBay since almost it's beginnings.
It is weird because it calls itself an auction when it isn't in the traditional sense. It is like a closed bid system in that it has a fixed end time that dictates how people need to play the system - snipe or leave.
Car auctions usually have a presentation window and the auctioneer will continue to take bids if there is still activity within a reasonable timeframe. This is How Bring A Trailer runs their auctions and I think they are great.
I predict eBay has already noticed this and are working to duplicate the software to manage a similar process.
