911 Turbo 1988 (keep mods or return to original)

Some "mental" support needed....

I am having 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo. The car is in good daily user condition, no rust anywhere etc. Engine pushing like new. 45 tkm in tacho. The car is having the factory option M148 (and I have the build sheet from Zuffenhausen) which stand the increased engine power (+30hp, different turbo, heads, bigger cooler etc). 9 standard (non-flatnose) bodied turbos was made at 1988 with this option (8 LHD/1 RHD). This far I have located 2 of these 9 cars plus my car in Europe. My car is with a lot of RUF parts which have been installed to the car according my understanding at 1988 before the car was shipped to Japan. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1425760078.jpg
I am now wondering should I start converting the car back to fully original or keep it in the RUF looks which has been in the car since more or less new car ? The is RUF mirrors, bumpers, wheels, cooling unit and fans in front etc).

I am also wondering the realistic sales value for the car and the 2 cars I have found from 1988 are highly priced. 1st one was something like 145K$ and 2nd one 189K€/205K$ (the last one is in sale Europe, look the link) Porsche 930 turbo 1988 WLS for sale by ELEVENCLASSICS

Would you convert the car back to original or keep with all RUF parts as is ? impact to price ? what is you opinion regarding possible value of the car ? are those 145K$ and 205K$ just like wet dream or is this special option M148 really making such impact as only 9 cars exists with that package ?

I guess it really depends on what you intend for the car. If your intention is to keep it and enjoy it - I think I would leave it the way it is. It is quite clear in today's market that stock cars retain more value than modified. Personally speaking, I would only return it to original if you were planning to sell it soon.

Keep it as you like it,dont think of the value and drive it like it vas the last day.

I would drive the crap (always within) out of it and enjoy it... now, if you want it because of the investment you better start reversing now... BTW, it looks prrrrrreeeettycool! I would leave it just like it is... M2c

Have you considered washing it allready? ;) Those Japanese import markings on the windshield are nice touch though.

Seriously, keep it as it is and drive it. We have to find some faster spirited driving roads next time we go out for a drive.

Tastefully done mods will not hurt the value of the car, especially if they are Ruf parts.

Nothing wrong with the "right" mods to make the car more driveable and make it more modern, driveable and even reliable. I would never convert my car back to stock.

I agree with Slow&rusty, quality modifications especially ones approved by Porsche, like Ruf, will not hurt value on anything but low mileage pristine examples.

Maybe do what I am doing I have a few mods a mine intercooler, turbo, waste gate spring, headers etc. For the past few years I have been buying all of the factory correct parts including the radio. I am putting the parts in boxes and storing them away. If I ever decide to sell the car I will convert everything back to stock until then I am enjoying the performance I have with all of the mods.

Keep it as is but remove that Porsche sticker on the front fender..lol. Oh and more pics when you get a chance...

Hagerty valuation tools are spoiling my evening, how to hell to drive right leg straight when the valuation tool is starting to propose 100-200K prices...no good !

Unless you're selling, leave it alone.

Leave it as is and enjoy it! But if you want to part with those RUF wheels I'll be happy to take them off your hands

Now here is a question for all! Given the skyrocketing prices of these cars how many will sell even though they don't have to? If you sell now what would you replace it with?
