Help identifying intercooler/engine

First time posting, hope my pictures upload. I have had my 1983 ROW 930 since 2005. It has a 930/66 engine #67D0551 with a TURBOCHARGER CODE= 53279707006. FAMILY K27-3. The intercooler does not look like others I have seen. My airbox also has a notch in it. I will try to load pictures. Could this be a 930S motor? Any easy way to know if I have SC cams? It appears factory. Thanks, jeffhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1430014091.jpg

dunno but it is an interesting looking unit - very cool

WELCOME, btw!!!

Awesome Sunbeam!... and a Corvair too. Nice.

What's under wraps there - A/C Cobra-ish looking...

I've seen that one before. It's made buy the same company that makes the smaller original one on regular 930's. Maybe it came on a 930S or a special wishes car or something like that.
I think it uses the same core as the old RUF intercooler.
It's probably worth a bunch to someone that wants it.

Thanks, Good guess, it's a superformance cobra. I've had my 65 tiger since 1974. The corvair is a 66 corsa 180 turbo. Maybe a great grandfather to the 930.

Looks like a 930S

Just to compare to the old RUF (without the fins) notice the cut away airbox:

Welcome! Nice collection of cars.

Whoa - super good taste in cars you got there.

Superperformance is arguably the best kit for those. Drove my bud's w/ the Roush 500 motor, thing is pretty damn gnarly certainly.

More pics!!!

And again, welcome - great to have another petrolhead gamer amongst...

Wow, you have the 930S engine. The larger intercooler and the diverter valve next to it gives it away. Do you have the four pipe stainless steel exhaust. If you do the pair on the left side should come from the wastgate.

Check out this site.

Nice tiger. I ran into a guy at c&c who is still driving the one he bought new at the local Chrysler dealer.

K27-7006 turbo. Nice.

Edwin, More pictures. My exhaust is on the left as well as the wastegate dump pipe. You can see where the parking light was previously mounted. This was the sticker in the engine compartment right siide . AMG apparently brought it in. They cannot tell me anything about it. Could be they changed the exhaust at that time? Steering wheel is different also. I guess I'll try that C.O.A. thing and maybe find out something.
I need to address a severe shuddering when you first release the clutch in first gear ( rubber centered clutch, engine/trans mounts, omega spring?) With engine out I can learn more , identify cams, and add this incredibly great exhaust that this really nice guy from Alabama sold me a embarrissingly long time ago. Correction, Kirkham makes the best Cobra kit cars, hands down. All aluminum, and all parts can bolt into an original 427 if you want. Identical in every way, no fox body mustang parts.

Nice Charger

Nice collection of cars with character.
The compliance tag is '93 and for a 3.0l engine? Not that it matters much in NC I doubt you smog and there could be a typo on the engine size....however
1993 compliance on an '83 gray market car you could have anything in your engine today.

Ah yes, my bad - I shoulda said I was speaking for the ones within reach of mere mortals.

I left copious DNA within this one:

I believe is it properly referred to as a 930SE ;)

And yes, that is a very special collection of parts. Look like a RUF aftermarket exhaust though.
That intercooler, the "SC grind" cams and the K27 made up the SE package. I am not completely sure, but they may have also put a stiffer boost spring in the waste gate also.

Thought this was a 930 forum. I really like the Superformance cars. They ship completed as ordered from South Africa minus engine and Trans. It has adjustable threaded body coil overs. Unequal length upper and lower control arms. IRS posi 8.8 rear end from the thunderbird supercoupe. Pin drive knockoffs. Willwood calipers. Interior is connaly leather with smith guages (as original). They come with top and side curtains.
Engine is stroked 351 windsor (396 cu. in.) Scat crank, forged rods, TFS aluminun heads, accusump. ,oil cooler. ( 500 hp at crank on dyno). Tremec TKO 5spd. (nice on highway). 3.73 rear gear. I built that engine because it's way lighter than the old side oilers and the car handles better. Truth is the 289 cars won all the races.
What convinced me was when I was at Bob Oltoffs shop and met a few guys who had only had their cars for a year and had over 10,000 miles on them. They really are nice. I have the wood steering wheel and reverse lockout shift handle (ala top loader)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1430088926.jpg
