Paulie are you ready to have me come convert your car to EFI yet? 3 days is all it takes and you'll have a perfect running car...and more power.:D
|
have you looked at the return side.
check the return hose back in the back left corner of the engine bay, mine was crimped under the holder. try blowing thru it. i could hear it blowing bubbles in the tank. get a battery charger and put it on the battery. remove the connector on the rear of the AFM and turn the key on and just run the pumps. it would be good to have gauges connected. run them for quite a while and see if you hear the change. you could also check power at the pumps while doing this. |
Paul,
When doing the voltage test, measure at the pump terminals when their running, not at the fuse terminal block. Be careful. I would suggest using insulated alligator clips at the pump to insure no short circuiting when testing. The 044's draw more amperage the stock Bosch's. Can't find the spec data on the pump regarding amp and voltage, but anytime a motor operates under less than optimum voltage, performance drops off dramatically and overheating almost always occurs. |
Paul. You do realize the 044's are noisy as hell?
Haven't read all the posts. But are you sure your running issue is pumps and not something else that just happened to start up at the same time? Like checking pressure etc... |
heh yeah they're NOISY now not just 'noisy' - squeaing / strained (Ronknees' fave past time)
thanks fer the tips, Dave - that's where I'm at next... yes I've got the plug off and have a charger and can let the pumps whirl I recall seeing the 044 amp draw data published here, I'll do a search Pete... um... I'm no more ready to go EFI than the last ohhhh 74843343733903405548 times you've "suggested" it. So - other than obligatory baulbustage, of course - saying it again ain't really helpful |
SUCCESS(ish)!!!
I'd thought both pumps were signing - rear one sound was resonating under car so much and with nose shoved down to ground was hard to tell
rear volts fine, jacked up front to test - pulled skid plate... NO PUMP! tapped it twice, boom - rear pump sounded great, runs fine PHEW! Will shakedown w/ skid plate off around town a bit and see if pump acts up - may swap the rear one I took out... not fun, so last resort. Now to determine why I can't get my sunroof cable back in!!! Never ends!!! |
WOOOO HOOOO!!!
Nice work buddy. |
