Green Distributor Wire
I decided it was time to change out the green distributor wire on my 87' 930 as it was looking pretty bad and found while the new distributor plug has an end plug, my car's green wire does not have one to plug it into. The existing green wire on my car has an inner green insulated wire sheathed by another wire which is insulated by the outer green insulation. How did you guys handle this?
Thank you! |

I spliced and soldered them together. Then wrapped it up with electricians tape and put a tie wrap around the end of the tape to keep it from unraveling.
The splice is behind the distributor so you can't see it unless you look for it. You can wrap it with a layer of aluminum foil to shield the splice and then tape it up. Anyway, it works. |

Thanks, Jim. I'm still a little confused, though. Obviously, I splice the inner wire together. Do I splice the shield together, too? Or just shield the inner spliced segments after insulating the inner wire by intertwining the shield together and then rapping it? Thank you, Jim! I really appreciate your knowledge and help!
