Speedometer issues
My speedometer works intermitantly mostly not work. This is a 79 930 turbo with an 87 motor. The sending unit on the transmission is white with two bullet connectors as connections. I do not know what the transmission year is but with this description hopefully it will be enough. I cannot even find one that looks like this.
Wish I was smart enough to post a picture but the ones in have seen. Have 5 contacts 1-purple/red hot 2- skip no terminal 3- white and red 4- 3 brown 5 - 1 brown On mine there is no white and red 3- 3 brown 4- 1 brown 5- empty Can some one tell me what the white and red is I cannot find one anywhere.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436830918.jpg |
I think that is your reverse light switch. I have a G50 trans in my car, so I am not the perfect person to ask, but my speed sensor is in the differential cover.
One wire goes to ground, the other is your signal. Test for ground and if that is good, you can then jump a wire from the signal wire to your speedo and drive it for a while to see if this is the issue. Others might have a better option, but this will isolate A) bad ground first B)bad wire from sender to speedo If neither of those work, then you have 2 other options. Sender and speedo... |
Anyone got a picture of the speed sender location
Plus help with white/red wire on speedo |
Above your throttle linkage lever where it connects on the trans case. A round unit about the size of your reverse light switch. Two fixed wires come out and join in the tunnel housing behind front seats.
