I'm sorry. I think they are smoking crack if they think that the avg 88 930 will sell for 236k. Maybe at a popular auction and the prior owner was a dead celebrity, but otherwise, no way.

With the rising values, it seems many enthusiasts are selling on to collectors. Nothing wrong with that, but it does seem there are an awful lot of cars for sale at the moment. Should be interesting to see if that impacts values.

Agreed - I look at that chart and laugh (in a "point-n-laugh" way). BUTT, I suppose the high $ numbers are attributed to the very low build numbers of the Targa?

Check out the 88 and 89 Turbo #3 valuations. Both are up 63% in the last quarter.
The 78 and 79's are up 28% from the previous quarter. Wow...... |

My 88 coupe is valued slightly higher than the targa, so I don't think the targa value can primarily be caused by low volume #'s (compared to the coupes).

There is no way that this can be right... There are LOTS of 1987/88 turbos for sale for 70k. Many on this board, and none have recently sold.
We are now saying that a #4 poor condition car is $160,000? I have an 87 930 driver. If anyone wants to step up and offer $160,000+ I can meet with you asap and we can work something out... The cars listed in SCM selling at auction are going in the 80-90,000$ range... Has ANYONE personally seen a driver condition car sell for $200,000? Anyone? Bo |

According to Hagerty I posted my solid Number 3 car for sale here yesterday at $109K below market (and here I thought it was only about $6K-$10K below).
Curious that no one's snapped it up yet. Thanks, Obama (er, Hagerty)! Perhaps it might be best remove my listing and wait ...

Thats why the Haggerty evelautions just don't make sense. I haven't seen ONE car sell for those numbers if you follow the sales in Sports Car Magazine... |

Bob and Doug McKenzie currency
All,
I believe the OP ran the Hagerty tool from the Great White North using Bob and Doug McKenzie currency not $USD$ so the amounts are slightly skewed... On the US Hagerty Valuation Tool the 1988 Turbo Targa, Condition 1, is "valued" at only $303,000.00 USD. Almost a $100,00.00 delta. I too do not believe the hype. |

I was going to say myself... For something north of $100K I'd sell my car too. These valuations seem skewed to me.

Yeah this Hagerty stuff is hard to believe and I'd sell my venetian blue '87 with redone cold AC and a whole bunch of other good stuff for something north of 100 grand too.

And it goes against premise set-fourth years ago as outlined above. So is Hagerty changing the game.. and if so why? So they're the major player in the classic car insurance game at present.. assumption is they make their money on premiums.. so they're hedging they're bets on premiums vs. payouts? Ok, so I'm rambling.. carry-on! ![]()

The other interesting thing is the HUGE difference in price between a number 4 vs 3 car, and a 3 vs a 2.
We are talking about a $100,000+ delta!!! How does that make sense? I would think that getting a #4 car to a #3 would be easy... Wash it, fix the dents, clean it up. What are we talking about, $10,000 in paint? Where does the OTHER $90,000 go? I know that getting a car to a #1 is difficult, and expensive... But getting it to a #2 or #3? Silly... |

Someone posted the graphs for a 1976 930 on another site. It is near identical to a 1988? No way.
Someone caused a typo or ran the info wrong... |
