Mahle piston marking?
Please help me understand the meaning of the marking on top of 3.3l turbo piston.
I think it indicates that wrist pins are 0.5mm offset. Is that right? If so, how do I install the pistons - which way should markings face? Thank you in advance! Ray ![]() |

It's for offset wrist pins, as you say. The symbol is a pictograph of a crankshaft. The rectangle is the flywheel end, which shows how you should orient the piston.

Yes, offset. The squiggle mark is on the side of piston nearest flywheel.
