Question Engine mounts... New?

Hi all.
Just wondering when you know the motor mounts need changing? I don't thin mine have ever been done and I am getting an engine vibration at higher RPM that I would like gone...
Is there a measurement for this?

Please see if you can be a bit more descriptive.

There are about as many sources of vibration as there are vibrations themselves, so while replacing your engine mounts is certainly not a bad thing, don't bet the house that doing so will correct the problem.

As far as some measurement: If you're looking to chase the issue by way of parts replacement, a good measure would be dollars and time. Engine mounts are about fifty-dollars and it's a quick and easy job. Gearbox cross-member mounts are also not too bad - quarters are a little more cramped because you're under the car but still pretty simple.

Even easier and cheaper would be to drive to your local tire shop and have them check your tire/wheel balance (although you did say engine vibration, versus an overall one).

Then there's ... well, let's stick with three things at a time.

Good luck.

Hello:
And thanks. I read on here before that engine mounts should be changed when they become old and hard. I remember a measurement that people used to see if the mounts were gone. Possibly just a visual measurement.
Wheel balance is not an issue.
Its a rev vibration.

Hi Benny - like Norm said, mounts are cheap and easy to replace, and given the age of the car if you don't know when they were last changed (if ever), it can only help to have new ones. I know I felt a definite improvement when I changed the tranny mount in particular, felt much tighter going on and off the throttle. When I removed the old mount the rubber was clearly 20+ years past its best before date.
