Electronic Boost Control

Electronic Boost Control what for connection methods did you have with single solenoid, single turbocharger: external wastegate?

I use a Tial F46 now with a 0.4 Bar spring i want control my boost between 0.4 and 1 Bar.

Thanks Thomas

What's your installation? Do you have a aftermarket EFI? Are you using a stand alone EBC? Philip

Basically you take the boost signal to the input side and then the out put side to the WG. It should be marked for input/output. Effectively you are intersecting the signal line from your boost side/WG line

Hi Philip

My installation:

Mahle P/C 3.4 7.5:1
964 Cams
Intercooler Longneck from Turbokraft
Tial Wastegate F46 (0.9 Bar) now 0.4 Bar Spring
Headers with heat port size 38mm from Rarly8
Turbocharger K27/29 from Rarly8
modified original Muffler (less backpressure)
Oil feed line from Turbokraft
CIS Injector Blocks port size 36mm from Turbokraft
BL WUR and RPM Module (adjustable)
Rocker Shaft Set from Turbokraft
Rocker Shaft Seal Set from Turbokraft
Flyweel Clutch Set from Patrick Motorsport
Supertec Head Studs and Engine Seal Kit
High Torque Starter
D-Zug 935 Style Crankshaft Pulley
Zeitronics ZT-II

At the moment i install a SDS CPI System (CPI is a programmable, stand alone, crank triggered, distributorless ignition system for 4, 6 and 8 cylinder engines.
I have the option for active knock retard.
So i use my original mechanical injection System (Fuel Head, WUR, Injector modified or new) but the ignition system is full programmable.

Yes i by a stand alone Turbosmart E-Boost Street 40PSI EBC i also install that with the CPI.

In the past i tried some installation with manuel boost controller, like the ruf one, but for me was that system to laggy.

Turbosmart gives you follow installation opportunities:

EXTERNAL WASTEGATE CONNECTION
The first method of installation is a one port connection. If the desired boost level is not achieved i.e. boost level is too low, or not
controllable, it is recommended that the wastegate spring be changed to a spring which is closer to the desired boost pressure or to trial
a 2 port connection method.
There are 3 different 2 port connection methods that can be trialled to achieve different results. The 2 port method (1) can be used if
there is high exhaust manifold back pressure forcing the valve open. The 2 port method (2) allows the user to achieve the maximum
boost pressure their turbo system is capable of. If a wide range of boost pressures is desired i.e. 5 – 40 PSI, the 2 port method (3) with
a 4 port solenoid (sold separately – TS-0301-2003) might be needed.

witch one is right for my project, ok i can try all version besides method 3 with a 4 port solenoid?

Hi Alan

I see you have a Greddy EBC and recommend a Basic single wastegate setup like picture one, right?

Thanks for your answer, what method would you make if you don`t have the 4 port solenoid?

My IC pressure is Teed to the EBC input and the bottom of the WG. The other side of the EBC is connected to the top of the WG. So it is controlling the pressure on the topside of the WG - acting like the spring. When that top pressure vents, the WG can open.
So if I set 1 bar on my 0.7 spring, the WG is seeing all the IC pressure all the time, but at 1 bar the topside vents, allowing it to open.

Method one. You want to run a spring close to the actual boost you want to see. With a good waste gate signal and waste gate and wanting max 1.2 get a 1 bar spring
