advice on struts

My front struts have over 90K on them and I am considering refurbishing or replacing.
Any advice on what to look for to determine if the strut itself is worn, aside from looking at whether it is straight? Are there specific wear points to inspect?

In terms of the replacement of the internal cartridge, is there better or worse options? Is the standard bilstein insert (sport) the best option for cost/benefit - DE and sporty street performance is the intended driving pattern.

Are 930 struts the same as 911 struts?

I sent mine to Bilstein last winter to be rebuilt. Took about 3 weeks. Happy with the results.

Here is a pic when I received them back from Bilstein.
