Mahle Pistons

Has anyone come across any company that sells just the Mahle Pistons for a 3.4 on 8.5:1 compression ?

I have called numerous vendors and they're telling me that you have to buy the pistons and cylinders as a "Unit" then I came across these ones

Mahle Pistons POR417114P32 Porsche 968 Turbo 3 0L 104 5mm 8 5 1 | eBay

I will be getting all new pistons/cyl for my 930 3.3 rebuild. as far as I know, they are stock 3.3 for a 78.

two of the pistons' compression rings are at the wear limit. all the cyl look great as usual

but the other 4 are pretty good. planning to list them for sale in case someone can use one or two on a rebuild.

I'll probably keep one for myself, just in case I need one some day.

I am just going to go with the later full finned cyls and new pistons. here are the mm measurements I got.

numbers are mm, top, second, and oil rings in that order.

cyl 1
.006 - .008
<.004
<.004

cyl 2
.010 - .010
<.004
<.004

cyl 3
011 - .013
<.004
<.004

cyl 4
.006 - .008
<.005
<.005

cyl 5
.004 - .006
<.004
<.004

cyl 6
.006 - .0007
<.004

Mahle Motorsport | PP98-009 The pistons, pins, rings are available solo.

The PS98-009 is the whole set that replaces the old 3.4L set. I think they default to 7.5:1 but Mahle motorsport will make you whatever..just takes time. Also ask them to add anti-det groves..they do that too.

CP is another other road you could take.

PP= pistons
PC = Cylinders
PS = P+Cs

I looked and could not find single pistons. Steve Weiner tells me they do not sell singles any more, just full sets.

and with the mods to this motor looking for 400+ hp/tq and some DE/track time he suggested I get a full set of newer style full finned cyls.

Strange that they sell them for some Porsche's but not for others

I went with JEs. Not perfect, but they work. Would've bought Mahles at 8.5 if available.

Hi Juan,
Just an FYI if you are interested, i have a nice set of lightly used JE 3.4 Pistons with 8.5 CR. I would sell them very reasonably if they would work for you.
Thanks!
