Anybody install a G50/03 in a 965

Anybody install a G50/03 in a 965 ? what is needed o complete this job? I feel the G50/03 is better geared for a turbo 911.

Should bolt into your car..965 had G50/52 and they are very similar, same nose cone etc.. maybe output shafts different.

They do look very similar but the G50/52 is a little longer, I believe by installing the shorter G50/03 it would move the engine forward about an inch, which would cause the engine tins not to line up to the engine bay and also the intercooler may not line up with tins on the turbo tail ? whats your thoughts?

How many inches are we talking here? Is the difference in the case, the tail housing or the bellhousing? Maybe re-fab the mount if it doesn't throw-off the geometry of the half-shafts.. and of course see what this does to the linkage..

Of course you could pony-up and re-gear the G50/52.

It will work no issues, but you should think twice on doing this, your 52 is a much stronger gearbox than the 03, bigger pinion ring, stronger main shaft and case, etc., on the other side of the equation you can sell the 52 for a pretty penny (10 to 12$k easy) , which I wont do if I were on your shoes.

Just put the G50/03 3rd, 4th and 5th in your gearbox. You don't want to give up the large turbo ring and pinion or LSD.

Finding used takeout gears from the NA gearboxes isn't usually difficult. I've got a 4th here I'd sell for $400. Compared to my new gears at $1200 that's nothing.

You're spending a lot of $$$ putting the OEM drivetrain back in this car, I would stick to that as the value is not insignificant.

You are probably competing with a bunch of GT40 replica owners for that tranny

And FF GTM Mulsanne...
And Ultima GTR...
And Singer...

Though really only the last one is usually willing to spend real money. 50/50s and 50/52 have been $10k gearboxs for most of the last decade. Getting one for less is the exception not the rule. Last one I did, 8 years ago, I bought for $12k and sold for $18,500 once it was gone through.

this will fit without Trouble.

Same shafts, same size.

The 50/52 is much stronger.

Regards
