Heat Exchanger question

Hello all,

I have a Euro '85 930 which currently has a cheap set of headers put on by the previous owner. I would like to put heat back in the car but want whatever I replace the headers with to flow halfway decently.

I do not have funds for a set of good headers with heat. I'm more interested in waiting for a deal on some used heat exchangers.

My question: What kind should I be looking for? I believe that the US cars switched to Euro h/e's at a certain point. Is there a certain year range of 930 exchangers I should look for? The 3.2 exchangers appear to be readily available. Can they be made to work on my car and if so, how do these flow compared to the turbo ones?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

I have a pair of Porsche heat exchangers that I just pulled off my car, 86 930. They are in good condition, no major crunches, no significant rust, and pretty clean.

Let me know if you're interested.

Euro exchangers '78-'89 and US '86-'89 are the same barring small production variations.
SC and Carrera HE will fit 930 J-pipe. Carrera ports are slightly larger, non-gasket protector versions bolt on or you can remove the protectors.

Good info. Don't know what I'd do without this forum!

3.2

3.2 heater boxes work just fine as they are about 6mm larger I.D than stock and they are cheap & look stock.Pick the boost up a little sooner as well.I used them on Turbos from the mid 80,s on.Fred

I gathered parts for a project using 993 heat exchangers with flipped flanges. I got a single turbo pipe from RarlyL8 but I never finished it. I was told it would be a good setup as it would flow much better but retain stock heat. Perhaps Brian can chime in on that potential setup.
