Are 89 930 stock cams the same as 964 cams?
Are stock 89 930 cams the same as 964 cams that are upgraded to frequently? 89 would be first year 3.6, right? What is a going rate for these? Thx. Mark

No the 1989 930 car is still a 3.3 engine (it did however have a G50) 1989 was the transition from the G body to the 964. If you had a 964 in the year it was the first year of a 3.6, but the 3.6 was not found in a turbo "964" until 1994 for one year only. I personally consider used cams as cores that can be refurbished by Web, Dougherty, or ??. If you are going to use 964 cams in a 3.3 there is a modification that is required to drive the pump on the back side of the motor

Along with what has already been said, 930 and 964 cams have the same lobe centers but the 964 cams have a little more lift and a little more duration.
Go to John Dougherty's website and the specifications of all Porsche cams are there. |
