Help with turn signal problem
I thought this would be easy....... my '83 SC left front turn signal was not working so I looked and found some loosely spliced wiring from a PO, which I repaired, a light socket that had come apart, repaired that. Replaced the #10 fuse and a few others, replaced the bulbs, cleaned the bulb sockets, wires and fuse connections. Now the left front and rear turn signal lights will blink dimly and the top of the #10 fuse gets hot. I tried to check the emergency flashers which clicked once and quit. Do the emergency flashers have a separate flasher unit? I have ordered more fuses and a turn signal flasher. Any Ideas while I'm waiting for parts?

Sounds like you have a short somewhere.

In the meantime I will get my fuse panel cleaned up and look at the turn signal switch. |
Had a similar problem and my flasher unit was faulty. Replaced and all is well.

Fixed......Sometimes the easiest solution is the best. I decided to just overlay a wire from the fuse box #10 to the turn signal wire behind the light. This took care of the short, must have been a problem somewhere inside the harness. I Replaced a bunch of my old fuses, put my old german flasher back in place and I think she'll go a few more years.:)
